It was beyond any we have ever seen before.  The trees , fences and just about everything was covered. Since we did not get any sun today , some of it stayed until sunset.
If you have never seen hoar frost , it is a sight that will etch in your memory .
The temperature and humidity has to be perfect to produce it.

Same here in De Pere. I happened to drive by the place where my bike pic was taken that made it into the calendar. Take a look at November, then imagine all those trees covered in frost. Was absolutely beautiful, if it hadn't been so cold I would have ridden the bike over and taken another pic in the same spot. It was all gone by around 1:00pm.

Wow pretty! I'll admit, I had to Google that one, initially I thought that's what happened when you paid for warmth and companionship and the provider was still distant and cold...

I have lived in many different parts of the country in the last 50 years.  Have seen that frost a number of times.  Really cool.  Some times in places where you wouldn't expect it to happen.  No pic's, just memories.

Probably a bit different from ice storms.

Which are good to stay home for.  But watching people try to drive and walk in is hilarious.

Until the tree falls on your house.

First time ever, I went out yesterday early to discover my windshield covered in ice (2017 Promaster 2500).  I can dig out a scraper, but can't reach much of the shield (without a ladder).  So I fired her up and put the defrost on high.  After awhile, I was good to go.

So on the way to the store, I noticed a button on my dash that said push I never pushed before.  Pushing it heats the shield and the great big mirrors (and works better than the defrost blower, which does squat for the mirrors).  OK, so I'm a freekin' idiot.   Grin

The truck manual is two big books, and I was waiting for the Cliff's Notes to come out.

I believe the other word you're thinking of would make the two known as "homophones." They are spelled different but sound and are pronounced the same but with different meaning. And no....those don't refer to cell phones used by a certain section of our society.  Roll Eyes Wink

And FWIW, I've experienced the distant and cold....which I paid for over 31 yrs.  Wink

Grew up in the Tulsa area.  Seen ice storms that left power lines  bigger in diameter than a grapefruit.  Twigs on trees 10 times their size.   Yeah a lot of down trees from it.   The home where I grew up looked on a major road with a hill.   Fun to watch trucks/cars trying to drive up that hill after a ice storm.

Been Portland OR after a ice storm shut the town down.  Best trip to that town as no one was on the streets (had studs on).

Ice storms are definitely different than hoar frost.   Just not a pretty.
