I read these posts with sadness-what exactly is the point of these futile political posts ? to sow conflict
and division between members ? Isn't there enough BS in this world, for members to have to discuss their political views on this forum ? this forum is literally not the forum for political discussion. Take a careful look at what the anacronym VRCC stands for-seems to me to suggest motorcycle related matters.
Nothing wrong with constructive discussion/criticism etc- but take it somewhere else-I'm sure all or most of the protagonists here have FB accounts-take your discussions there-or e-mail each other privately if you feel the need to air your political views publicly. Very disappointed.

There is a rather unique situation going on here, so for the next 10 days, there will be more than ever.  Can't you just not read the post if it isn't about valkyries?

When one side of the political divide wants to ban internal combustion engines, ban oil extraction, ban refining said oil into gasoline, tax ownership of vehicles into oblivion, then it's all very... VERY Valkyrie related.....

As much as I love my Valkyrie and this forum, I love my Constitution and my country more.  I'm not an ostrich and can't bury my head in the sand while a group of leftist destroy this country.

The politics of a nation affect just about everything in our lives.   To ignore what's happening now goes against everything our founders stood for.

FB and most media companies are locking out all conservatives and may not be around much longer. This is a motorcycle board but its also more than that. Many here have long standing relationships and have a love of motorcycling. So its more like a family discussion, with the accent on motorcycles. You can choose not to read the posts on political stuff and please post any motorcycle related posts you want. If more would post motorcycle related stuff then there would be a slant to that.

I have not known any motorcycle rider that is not passionate about things. Its a blessing to have a spot to express yourself among others who have the same main passion. The perspective that comes from that is priceless. It may not be something you like but even from the those different in opinion its interesting and insightful.

As said before this is a very different time in the US, right now there is much going on. So please be patient with these topics.

I see you have 28 posts I dont know how long you have been here but I have been here at least 15 years. Try the flow of the board and ask a question on any topic you want or start a topic on any topic you want and enjoy the responses. There is so much experience here and many have ridden a long time.

I wasn't aware you were an administrator. Who are you to decide for the whole club what is and is not allowed? If you don't like it dont read it.  Skinhead is right, this is a very unique situation that no one has witnessed before. So get off your high horse little Johnny and relax. It will pass in time, maybe. It's very easy to not ooen threads. You can also go create your own forum and run it with your rules.

Politics has no place on this forum

Yeah, it does.  Right here on the General forum.

Historically, winter has often been a time of more heated debates here (on anything under the sun).  It's cold and people are housebound and cranky, with time on their hands.

And every two years in winter, there's an election that always gets discussed.  At least, there used to be.

And you may have seen in the news, it's gone well beyond cranky.

We all like Canadians (excluding many of your politicians).  You guys are even allowed to complain about YOUR politics on our General forum (and occasionally have in the past).  The issues are often pretty similar to ours.  You guys are always more polite about it than we are.  You were all raised with better table manners than we were.   Grin

We are clearly more hot headed than Canadians too.  For instance, we kicked the redcoats (British) out in the late 1700s (with a lot of shooting), but you didn't do it until 1982 (with no shooting at all).  But we don't hold it against you.

You speak against division yet your post is condescending and divisive. The staff here works hard to keep it civil.  And BTW they do it for the same salary the current President has taken for the last four years. There, now it’s political  Cheesy

I have also been watching this board for some fifteen years. The politics has truly become too thick. Perhaps I/we should post more motorcycle stuff, and gently nudge the politics over.

Motorcycle riders are strong minded independent people by nature, most are very passionate about a number of things. Another trait we share (most of us) is thick skin, and a way of communicating directly without a lot of polite decorum, that's not to say disrespectful, though that does come into play now and then.

We're real people with real thoughts sharing and discussing things we deem important. Many are stuck this time of year not being able to ride and need to vent a little.. most discussion is in good spirit and/or intention. There are some who like to agitate and not actually discuss anything, those people are on my newly minted ignore list.  Smiley

Frankly, I like spirited discussion and consider it normal to do so. If you don't want to read and participate in political discussion, you have the power to ignore it and stick to what you like.   cooldude

I did.

Freedom.

It's why we ride. It is why we are passionate about things related to it.

You have the Freedom to visit this site or not.
Once on, you have the Freedom to create a post or read a post or thread at your discretion.

That you feel yourself required to engage, read, or comment on posts you do not enjoy is on you.

There is no obligation to participate in political postings, or any others for that matter, on the general board and you have the privilege of posting on virtually any topic, within the "rules of the road" that is of interest to you and others.

Freedom. It's that simple.

I read throigh every single post you have made.  This is the first one on the general board.  So you are not a contributor to motorcycle post on the general board.  But yet you want to complain about there not being many motorcycle posts? You are very confusing. If you want to help create a post about motorcycles.

Coming from you that's high praise indeed! No where near as clean as yours, especially if you get up close to it, but I'm trying to keep this one at least a little nicer looking...

Incidently the script is a digitized photo of the marble monument to King Leonidas at Thermopylae.

Look right above the "VALKYRIE" across the trunk on my Interstate... Wink And I'm proud to say your bike and me match!

Huh.  Didn't even occur to me, my post was censorable. But it's yanked. And I can't check that as I didn't save a copy.  Just wanted to mention I don't put on political bumper stickers anymore (per Serk) in this place as they invite vandalism - while my Russell seat with the monument script image from Thermopylae is probably safe.  Sorry bout that - I guess.  Maybe this will be yanked too...
