I am going to be putting a Zumo 550 on my "new to me" IS.  How do I hook it up so that if I am listening to radio/CB the voice prompts of the GPS will cut in?

I have read that if you hook it up to the aux input, you will ONLY get the GPS, that will cut out the radio all the time?

Any help would be appreciated.

I have a std. with the J&M 2003CB, and the Zumo 550 hooks right in, and cuts in when needed.

Thank you.

Kennedy Technologies has a device that plugs multiple inputs with a #1 and #2 priority plugs. The GPS goes into #1 ( I think) and it will automatically switch to GPS when a voice prompt cuts in. Google Kennedy Technologies to find it.

I have a Kennedy Tech. Group Dual Set with the power harness and the intercom harness you would just need to buy the harness to connect to your GPS. It came off of a 99 Interstate. I also have the harness for a Garmin2610 Streetpilot. I didn’t have a garmin 2610  So I cannot verify that it works. If you want to give it a try just let me know.

I still don't understand how you will get it to work.  Anything you pipe in the AUX jack will be heard only when you select AUX.... and the AM/FM isn't playing then.    How is that going to work ????

The Kennedy stuff puts it in through the headset system, not through the radio.  So it doesn't matter if you're listening to AM, FM, AUX, or CB.  As long as the intercom system is on, it functions.  Pretty well, I might add.

I ordered a "set" from Kennedy today.  It splices into the intercom, not the aux.  I got it with a switch, so I can hear in the intercom, or switch it to the speakers.  I do not have Blue Tooth, but I got it so that I could add it later for a phone.

Kennedy Tech is the way to go for sounds on an I/S.  Expensive, but worth every penny of it to me.  Sorry tunes & communications are worse than none at all...JTL

So, with all the comments made -  which specific hook-up from Kennedy Tec. works the best on a Valk I/S?

I was told the following would be needed for the I/S with CB/Sat Radio/Garmin Zumo and cell phone.

95423   Harness, GPS, zumo 550, Stereo/Mic/Power   $95.00
95258   Harness, Intercom, GL1800, type 2   $35.00
95413   CellSet, MC/GPS-ICS/MIC   $85.00
95299     not sure what this one was?

Had to call the 800 number to ask the web site is a little confusing!!!

Well, I talked to them over the phone.  Spent quite a while, the lady was very knowledgeable and thorough.

With the capability to add blue tooth in the future, the total came to $300.00.

I do not know the individual pieces.  I will try to remember to post here what the pieces are when it comes next week.
