Since Verizon just announced it will be with holding donations to Republicans Involved In Biden Certification Challenge (along with Marriott International, Blue Cross Blue Shield and bank holding company Commerce Bancshares), I would like to change my cell phone carrier.
I am looking for suggestions. I don't use my cell phone for emails but do use it for texting and some internet access.
I have an iPhone and would like to keep it. I would like to keep the phone number as well. While cost is somewhat of an issue, its not the reason I used Verizon. We use it (my wife and I) because our daughter suggested putting all the family phones on her account.
Any suggestions are welcomed.

I heard Rush advertise for a carrier that uses all the towers of a well-known "major" carrier but at about half the cost. I "THINK" he said something about unlimited calls and texts but for the life of me I can't recall the name of the company/carrier. Might be worth a listen to his show and see what that might be about. I know it's not much help but maybe a possible direction. I don't usually listen to commercials very closely. Or, maybe someone else knows about it and can chime in.

Do search on sister companies of Verizon. There are several that sound good but are part of Verizon. They all have little sisters out there so you may not get away from them.

Ford is on that same bandwagon. Thank goodness haven’t owned a Ford for over 30 years, with no plans to change that either.

I don't know much about the iPhones, but make sure yours is compatible with both CDMA and GSM networks. Most newer phones are, but not all. Verizon, Sprint and US Cellular use CDMA and AT&T and T-Mobile use GSM. (The smaller ones you'll hafta see who their actual provider they piggy back on is.)
As I said MOST newer phones can go both ways, but not all, so make sure your phone will work on the network you're moving to.

Yes that is the one I heard but forgot which carrier it was. It might have been Consumer Cellular. And I will check whit the carrier to make sure that my current phone will transfer. One I looked at gave a list of carries and Verizon was not there. Thanks for the information

I've used total Wireless for the past three and a half years. It cost me $34.52 including taxes when I signed up. I'm still paying the same amount. It piggybacks on the Verizon system.

Metro PCS is what I use with iphones, for 2 lines it's flat 85.00 a month including unlimited everything.. it's on T-Mobile's network.
Dumped Verizon and their overpriced products many years ago.

Thanks gentlemen for the recommendations. I will add them to the list to investigate.
I think we currently spend about $85 a month for our two phone lines through Verizon. As I said, just looking to dump Verizon.
Just sent a message to Best Buy saying I will no longer buy from them either. Will use their store to review and see products first hand before purchasing from some else (probably on line).
By the way, the cell phone provider Rush advertises is Pure Talk.

Past tense. I WAS happy with consumer cellular until I just opened this months bill which arrived yesterday. Now-NOT so much. My bill went from $35.75 too $47.07! Jumped $11.35 by my figurin. About half of my social insecurity raise! AND perusing the bill there are NO/NONE/NADA extra charges to show I over used "unlimited" service! I WILL call them later and find out What the heck happened. And I AM looking for a better deal than the stinky deal that was just mailed to me. I originally started at that base deal-20 bucks or so-and this latest raise is numero 3 I believe. So I Will be searching out a replacement carrier for my cell service. I had looked at Mint Mobile? and thinkin that one was paid quarterly? Anywho I M H O-fergit consumer cellular. RIDE SAFE.

In general local coverage is not an issue I suspect, but coverage on the road might be. Will have to look.

Coverage on the road is the biggest reason I want to stick with Verizon (don't get me started on AT&T (aka "Deathstar")).

You wonder how that works. I mean the same towers and infrastructure. There must be a catch. Probably who has access based on the system you are hooked up to.
But then.... I have not slept at a Holiday Inn in a couple of months.

I use Verizon PREPAID - same towers, freqs, etc - but I pay $40 unlimited voice and texts, and 3 GB /month data - got a signup bonus for free additional 3GB data. Wife uses Republic Wireless - it is setup to use Wifif when possible and I think it uses data when on the cell network. I'm suspecting T-Mobile is the cell backbone for her phone.
