And if they dump LaPierre I MIGHT consider taking them seriously again..... Maybe...

Sincere Question. If not the NRA, Whom? (I have had concerns about the NRA for quite some time but was not sure who would be a better choice to protect our freedoms.)

My understanding is the NY Atty Gen was prosecuting for financial mis-appropriations by upper management.   Although I'm sure NY is not the most tax or gun friendly state.   Moving to TX or some other tax friendly state makes sense, they should have done it long ago.

Sincere Question. If not the NRA, Whom? (I have had concerns about the NRA for quite some time but was not sure who would be a better choice to protect our freedoms.)

Despite disenchantment with NRA over some issues and LaPierre, I have continued to support them.  But my level of support of multiple good works had to decrease upon retirement.  The complaints about LaPierre and the power struggles at the top levels of NRA in recent history have been pretty well publicized, and I have been very disappointed that NRA has failed to ever adequately address these issues to it's rank and file members (me), beyond the... everything fine, don't worry gloss overs.  Why they stayed in New York (incorporated) for so long is a bone head move and has also never been explained to membership.

I think GOA (Gun owners of America) is the second most well known 2d A advocacy group, and to my knowledge they have never had press about extravagance of lifestyles or compromise and backing off. I've been supporting them somewhat better the NRA of late, and almost as long.

There are others.

https://gunowners.org/

There is probably a State Rifle and Pistol organization/association (or whatever it's named) in every state, and I've always supported mine as well.

And of course, before I ever vote for anyone, I search for their stand on 2d A.  If no one on the ballot stands for it, I write in for the Easter Bunny.

I'm a Benefactor Patriot Life Member of the NRA. Kali is a Life Member of the NRA. But until LaPierre is gone screw them. I'm also a Life Member of the GOA, and a member of the NAGR.

So.... IMHO better to send your support to the GOA, NAGR and maybe your state civil rights group (I'm a TSRA Life Member as well) but mostly, GOA and NAGR....,.

When/if the NRA gets rid of LaPierre and his multi-million dollar wardrobe they MIGHT get my support again, but as they stand now, was kinda hoping they'd meet a fiery end to be honest......

I get the same impression about LaPierre  as Serk. But I think the NRA is the
lobbying organization that is the most annoying and in the face of the
anti 2nd amendment legislators in Washington... I'm not sure how
much it matters if some organization that they've never heard of
has a CEO with less access to private jets...

Life member... LaPierre is bad for NRA, NRA is good. Still the best bet in town. IMPEACH LaPierre

Incidently, just scored a Ruger Redhawk .44 Magnum, original box, never fired, original papers and Midway soft case, plus 100 rounds of .44 special with Leupold optics. Beautiful stainless finish.
Wait for it...$300 bucks for all. I'm guessing without any research that's about an $800-$1000 package.

I just read the barrel, it states "Super" Redhawk. I don't know if all RedHawks are "Super" or if this designates something else.

I’ve always liked the redhawks. Nice revolver for a smaller caliber gun.  Wink

Hell of a deal Doug.   cooldude   More like a $1500 deal (right now).

Paid about $550 for my used Redhawk, in 1988.
Redhawk: (with Leupold 2x, no box, no ammo)

Super Redhawk (with Leupold)

Two points:

-Wear earplugs.

-Not a CCW (unless you get a chest carry rig and wear a heavy coat, and have no hernia issues)

I have a Galco chest rig for my Super Blackhawk & my S&W 500mag.  Spendy but fine holsters.

The NRA really needs to pay more attention to malfeasance at the top.  Not to mention their CS as well as their spamming suck.  They are the biggest and oldest civil rights group in the country if not the planet.  Doesn't give them license to misbehave.  We really need them as they are pitbulls against the left's agenda.  I don't get why their board doesn't clean up their act.  But I don't follow their internal politics / struggles.  I have not and will not sign up for a life membership partly due to their record.  But also due to, it's not justifiable for me at my age.  I'll croak long before a life membership would not cost more than 5-yr renewals.  I don't trust them to use any extra money from me for legal battles rather than personal pocket-lining.

Jess,
The second photo is it exactly, including scope. I will never carry this, I have my favorite carry all rigged the way I like it. I'm a .45 guy, my whole life just works for me. Single stack for carry, double stack for bug out and nightstand. I am all stocked up on .44 already for my Henry lever action, so this deal was a win/win. It would be fun to use this Hog hunting, but I don't care much for the Florida pigs. More than likely it will just be an addition to my Ruger collection. Not something I needed, just couldn't pass up and having ammo for it anyway just a no brainer.

Chrisj CMA,
Your funny with your big Grizzly bear guns Grin, this is the largest caliber I care to shoot in Handgun. (although would like to own one like your big caliber) It would probably snap my little girl wrists. I actually MUCH prefer it to a hot loaded, loud pitched, loud cracking .357 Magnum. I have (3) .357's, all Rugers, from snubbie to 6" barrel and I would rather not even shoot than shoot those. The only reason I keep them is cause I've so much ammo for them. I have a Ruger Blackhawk .44 single action blued and enjoy the way it shoots, not much kick, just kind of comes back towards you like a cannon and more of a deep toned boom, I find it easier to shoot/control and faster to get back on target.

I get it though, big bikes and big guns Wink

My Redhawk is my only handgun with a scope.

Even after a lifetime of shooting them with irons, it's pretty informative to take a good two fisted standing stance and look through a scope and see that you are not quite as steady as you thought you were.

Still, it's the best one in the safe for reliable handgun forehead shots at 50 yards.

Not that that comes up a lot.

Interestingly (to me), my Redhawk came with a really fantastic double action trigger job (light and smooth), and I always read trigger jobs on Rugers were more difficult than on Smiths.  Still, this is really not a revolver lending itself to quick defensive double action shooting.  They shine when thumbing the hammer back and taking careful aim and using the crisp single action let-off to make good hits.

BTW, it's always a good idea to make sure your scope mount hardware is all snugged up properly (especially with magnums and not specials).  A little bit of looseness anywhere can go south quickly.

Also a box of .44 #12 snake shot can be quite useful on occasion.  It's not noiseless, but it doesn't upset the neighbors anything like regular ammo does.  Especially with those FL pythons that might try to take your shovel away from you.   Grin    (But I don't know if that stuff cycles through lever guns).

Works good in revolvers and this too (but at 20 feet, you will hit them in the head and the shoes).  Talk about an impulse buy.
