We're having a hot weather event in San Diego with dry Santa Ana wind. Took a ride to Ramona from Escondido on the 78. Got lucky and had a decent run up the mountain area with minimal traffic, took some video and will post it when I get a chance to download and process it. Temps were in the upper 80's inland. https://www.relive.cc/view/vNOPPX4k3YO

Jealous, but I wouldn't have got to ride anyway with the bike down. Yesterday was decent and woke up to snow this morning. Great day to lay tile in the foyer.

Should be outta here late tonight. Temps in the low 30's upper 20's. I could have gotten the bike out but it would have just been showing off.

The one photo there looks like some really nice roads. The little dot running back and forth in that program looks kinda cool, but would love to see more pictures from that area. I'll keep an eye out for your video We're having a heat wave here this week too...5°C (40°F) Ran into town on the Wing a couple hours ago to do some errands, and I couldn't figure out why my heated vest wasn't warming up. At my first stop, I found that I'd pulled the hot wire out of the plug the last time I'd disconnected it....brrrr

Have to say I haven't missed Chicago weather since I left in 79. Didn't mind winter so much, the time I really hated was late winter and early spring, other than that it wasn't too bad. Riding in freezing temps would not be much fun, here I've ridden in high 30's on cold mornings but not too often, and I wasn't really dressed for it. One of those times where you appreciate being on the machine, yet you can't wait to get warm again.

Yesterday I had to detour twice but all in all it was a successful getaway. The thing that bugs me most in cold weather are freezing fingers, my cold weather gloves are insulated but they still suck haha Oh, and I really love that Wing!

Here's some video of the trip towards and up the hills, you can see my experimental fork deflectors, they were easy enough to make. I was too lazy to pull them off for some additional trimming so they cracked when I cut the rounded corners without enough support.. they work pretty well though At least until I can re-do them. https://youtu.be/u5jTuym53n8

Thanks for posting that.If I ride further than 45 minutes or so out of my end of the valley here, I'm into the mountains and into real Winter conditions. I like the camera angle you're using...gives a great perspective.where do you mount it?

Bret, according to this mornings weather, looks like your warm weather will last for a few more days. watch out for wildfires.
Up here in Southern OR, we are experiencing our January thaw, which is projected to last for several mores days. Got in 140 mile on Thursday afternoon. Took 3 hours but was very enjoyable ride with temps around 50 (normal high is upper 30's). I will take another ride before the thaw goes away.

I played around with a helmet mount but didn't like it on top of my head, I could feel wind gusts pushing my helmet back and it bugged me, half helmets preclude chin mounting which would likely be better. I have it mounted on the engine guard, it's stable there and I can reach it to turn the camera on and off if needed, I have the camera remote clipped to the pocket flap on the tank bra. So far as I can tell the remote powers up the camera and starts recording with one press To date I'm very happy with the GoPro.. and I'm finally getting it down with video processing etc.

I heard of a fire near Mt. Palomar yesterday which is where I was headed until hitting a traffic jam, so I U-turned it and headed another direction. My girl said she wants to go for a ride today! Hopefully we can head to the mountains. I really was impressed with Southern Oregon and Northern Ca when I last drove through while headed for a job in Sequim Wa. Some beautiful country, I really like Shasta County and would love to take the bike to Lake Shasta and hang out for awhile. It's good you got in a nice ride this time of year!

Yes, San Pasqual Rd intersects with SR78, the park is closed now due to Newsom. We used to have a yearly pass to the zoo, great place to go when not overrun with tourists. Ya just have to know when not to go. Not many potholes once you get out of the city, those here are inexcusable due to no snow and ice problem. Money is squandered or pilfered here by corrupt politicians and city mgr people.. as is usual. We're heading out there again today, and maybe to Mt Palomar if I can talk my passenger into it
