WASHINGTON — Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez revealed that Congress is looking into creating an investigative commission to “rein in” the media in the wake of the US Capitol siege.

During a lengthy Instagram Live on Tuesday evening where she revealed that she feared for her life during the siege, the “Squad” member accused the mainstream media of “spewing disinformation” ahead of the deadly riot in which five people died.

“There’s absolutely a commission that’s being discussed but it seems to be more investigating in style rather than truth and reconciliation,” she said.

“I do think that several members of Congress in some of my discussions have brought up media literacy because that is part of what happened here,” Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) went on.

“We’re going to have to figure out how we rein in our media environment so you can’t just spew disinformation and misinformation,” she said.

And this from the Jewish Press

But Harsanyi said it best:
“Here, the Constitution “reins in” Congress from intruding on the speech of citizens, journalists, or any private institutions, not the other way around. . . The press should be challenging those in power, not obsequiously trying to earn gold stars from unelected bureaucrats on a state-run committee.

“As for AOC’s ideas: It’s just creepy, not to mention wholly un-American, for an elected official to advocate the state as adjudicator of veracity of our political speech.”

They declared that Trump was gonna go after the press/media.  He was supposed to round up and throw "journalists" in jail who didn't agree with him.

Anybody recall any journalists going to jail in the last 4 years?  Me neither.

If I thought for a micro-second that the rules would apply equally for all and only the facts could be presented (without spin), I could "almost" support this but, I'm pretty sure she and her squad only want to shut down those who actually report things she doesn't want out there.

But, the only way that news sources (that don't agree with her) are gonna get shut out will be if one party holds all the seats of power.   Ooo, wait................  Oops  Roll Eyes

Remember, write to your Congressman. Even if he can’t read, write to him

You see, they have two of these bodies - Senate and House. That is for the convenience of visitors. If there is nothing funny happening in one, there is sure to be in the other.

The only difference between death and taxes is that death doesn't get worse every time Congress meets.

On account of us being a democracy and run by the people, we are the only nation in the world that has to keep a government four years, no matter what it does.

This country has come to feel the same when Congress is in session as when the baby gets hold of a hammer.

Lord, the money we do spend on Government, and it's not one bit better than the government we got for one-third the money twenty years ago.

Congress is so strange; a man gets up to speak and says nothing, nobody listens, and then everybody disagrees.

Never blame a legislative body for not doing something. When they do nothing, they don’t hurt anybody. When they do something is when they become dangerous.

Those who complain about the high cost of government should be glad we’re not getting all the government we’re paying for.

I bet after seeing us, George Washington would sue us for calling him “father.”

This would be a great time in the world for some man to come along that knew something.

I would love to see Mr. (Henry) Ford in there, really. I don’t know who started the idea that a President must be a Politician instead of a Business man. A Politician can’t run any other kind of business. So there is no reason why he can run the U.S. That’s the biggest single business in the World.
