Background:  Got my Valk in July.  Reading on here about issues (big and little).  The oil seal on the shift lever seemed like an easy fix with the Jersey bracket.  Hadn't heard/read about the buddy bracket yet.

Note:  I had learned that I liked the shift lever riding up rather than level on the rod.  This gave me the room I needed for my boot.

Got the Jersey bracket and got 99% installed when I realized I couldn't locate the lever in the upper position I wanted because it wouldn't mate with the bracket arm.  So, tried it lowering the lever to where it would allow the bolt in the middle of the shift lever.  Bottom line I did not like riding with the lever in that position.  Sold the Jersey bracket and got a Shift Buddy.  Shift lever's back in the position I like, good to go!  Not quite.  Thought it would be better if the shift "rod" was longer to allow more space for my boot when shifting.  Cut off the "rod", drilled a hole in the lever and installed a 4" bolt with rubber on it.  Now, I'm really pretty happy at this point.

I have floorboards and was still feeling a little "shorted" on foot space for the front of my boot.  So, today I moved the bolt shifter to the hole originally drilled for the Jersey bracket, about midway in the lever.  Wow.  Not only did it give me some nice space it tightened up the shifts.  I used to take out the slack in the lever before shifting to make smoother shifts.  Now, there is no slack.  I'm getting very smooth, positive shifts with very little toe movement.  It's amazing how much better it feels.

Not saying this is for anyone else, just that I feel it's better for me.  I have a couple of pics, will try to load after I go back and read how to do that.

Nice, personal mods are always great when they make your ride nicer.

How about some photos? I'm not 100% sure of what you are referring to, since I'm not near my ride and have the same parts as yours.

There was not enough slot in the Jersey Shifter Mod to compensate for moving the shift lever? That is what the slot is for.
FWIW, I prefer the Jersey mod because it puts the stabilizing point further from the engine making it more effective.

Is the shift buddy still available? Searched for it and nothing much came up. Do you have a link?

Maybe this'll help.  It's important that the inner extension rod is placed in the OEM position.  I've seen a few where they were accidently installed one notch off.  Once the inner extension is correct, then the Jersey Bracket will allow the shift level to be installed on the extension one notch UP/DOWN.

Unfortunately I wanted more than one notch up, guess that's why it wouldn't work for me.

I've contacted Willow for help in being able to post pics, guess I'm too old and slow to figure it out on my own.  Will post as soon as I can.

It's kind of a pain. But once you do it a couple times it seems pretty easy. It took me years to figure it out. Then a very kind, patient member walked me thru it. (RIP Wiggy) Basically, you have to put your pics on a photo hosting site, and then link to that. This one is the one I use. Once you get a pic uploaded, click on share, and it will give you an option of copying a hotlink for forums. Once you've done that, in your dialog box just paste it. Hope this helps.
