Hello all, hope you are well.

Just quick one. Since I got me IS the choke wasn't working properly.

It goes half way loose when Im trying to open and after then Im feeling the pressure of the choke and it not stay in that position. It slowly goes back and close the choke.

I have opened the housing on handlebar and there is everything ok. Then I took down the side covers and found out that the choke line is soo long. But the adjustment is on its max.

Is it the time to change the line or is there any other way to adjust it a bit?

(have some pics but forgot how to put them here )  angel

Any advice?  Thanks Jiri

One of my Interstates, the choke won't stay fully on and eases off while the bike is still cold.

I have to stand there for two minutes and hold it on for warm up.

I think something got oiled that shouldn't have.  I have not tried a fix.

I oiled my choke cable years ago. It still won't stay on.
I wonder if there's such a thing as "canned rust" I
could spray down in there?

I would order and install a new cable. Cheap and easy.

there are cable adjustment nuts on each carb bank, chrome covers need to be removed.
handle bar adjustment should be done last and as fine tuning.   see pg 5-18 of tech manual

similar procedure for throttle cables. handlebar is final adjustment.

I don’t know of an adjustment possible at the handlebar. I do have a standard so maybe different on the interstates but I doubt it

Hi. Yes there is adjustment on the handle bar side as well.

I did both sides on max and the cable is still a bit long.
Will try to replace it.
Thanks

I just did John Schmidt's choke mod, thereby removing the handlebar cable.
Works great and I like how it cleaned up the look by removing that cable.

I know......just splitting hairs here......

But "chokes" went out in the late 60's......early......1970's???     NOW they are "enricheners".

Instead of "choking" off the air flow......they started "enrichening" the fuel flow.......at cold start up.

But whatever works......even I still call it a CHOKE!!!!  Lol!!!  cooldude

I STILL, prefer the old choke carbs.......a LOT less to go wrong!

I've known that a long time, but still always call it a choke (as you basically get the same result with either).

I'm not a fan of the word enrichen.

Also choke is only one syllable, and enrichen is three and takes longer to say.     Grin
