I got this five years ago (Nov 2016)... it is light as a feather, my bike still
turns on great and hasn't burst into flames...

It is half the size of a regular battery, hence the little legs... so there's a
void under it in the battery compartment... and there's a button to mash
to see if it is good/fair/poor... It has always shown "good" except when
I was doing a wiring project and blew my bigbf quad horns a whole
bunch without running the bike/alternator...

I've had a Duracell...yes, Duracell...in for three years now.

Here's why:  Late one afternoon three years ago my YUASA decided to short it's cells (at just under three years old by the way) and I wanted to ride the next day which was a Sunday.  Against my better judgement, but having no other option, I went to Batteries Plus that next Sunday morning and found the Duracell.  So far it's been a good battery, so no complaints...

How much was the Autocraft Li?

Only issue I had with the LiFePo battery was the price. $300 local. Turned out the benefits I thought I would have, was none existent, and not worth the money. I bought a lead acid again, for $50 instead. Trying that out.

(my LiFePo was for the Goldwing and is reversed polarity, and I kept it. Bought cable extensions so I could reach the reverse polarity. Am thinking of breaking/cutting it open, to manually change the polarity to match the Valkyrie instead)

FYI
You don't want a Li battery for your vehicle. You want LiFePo, these are the ones that don't explode.

Less than a hundred. I don't remember exactly.

video demonstrates why CCA ratings mean little with li-ion cells. li-ion cells will discharge at high rates, then fall flat suddenly when empty.

https://advrider.com/f/threads/motorcycle-batteries-agm-gel-wet-lithium-iron-phosphate-lifepo4.757934/

always buy one size larger if avail when starting about 40F and lower.  the battery goes into a sleep mode after a few hrs esp in colder temps. so a load has to be put on it to wake it up, then wait a few minutes for full voltage and then start. so having a larger battery provides the extra capacity to handle the load and then start.

I'm using a bike master dlfp16-bs right now for the last few yrs which is 20amps more than the one listed for the valkyrie.

Napa or Yuasa AGM. My Napa was 12 yrs. old when I replaced it due to it being so old but was still working good.

https://www.amazon.com/Yuasa-YUAM6RH4H-YTX14H-BS-Battery/dp/B000N5ST3C

They suggested 1.4 amps to charge but 2 amp worked just fine.

I believe that a Lithium has to have a special charger.

Will this particular battery fit the stock battery box without modification?  Will the lid fit on correctly?

fit right in.  I did this a few yrs ago, so re-check dimensions.  I used the Yuasa as base size. 148x87x145 aka 6.5"x 3.9"x 6.5" approx. The one I have is about 6lbs lighter.
It seems most of the Goldwing batteries are higher amps, but were always too tall to fit, this might have changed.

Beats me!    I am still a Yuasa fan.    I get 6 or 7 years out of them?

Do these fancy batteries, last any longer?

Ditto...easily 6-7 years. I'm always puzzled when I hear stories of the Yusa's failing prematurely.

Do you use heated gear with your Yuasa?
I am guessing you do.

The Mrs usually has her heated jacket plugged in other than in Summer months... I have a heated vest but rarely use it. I think I've only had 3 batteries in the almost 20 years I've owned my Interstate. None of them have died on me or failed to start the bike, only replaced because of age.

Have one of these in both Valkyrie and Gold wing..awesome battery , great starting power ..only drawback is cold temperture affects them alot...remedy is , if it's cold , turn your headlights on for a few minutes to put a load on it and it warms it up to starting power.

I can't see where heated gear would have any effect on the battery.  Now the alternator, sure.

same here 6 or so years never under 5 years with Yuasa bought on Amazon.  Speaking of batteries,  I think this will be the 7th year on both Yuasa's so time to consider anohter one this year?  Good thing I have 3 same size now for 3 cycles so if one fails I have a backup, but 2 of the 3 are showing fully charged 12.32 volts so that is not super great should be 12.8 volts on up when new.  Pretty sure 1 or both will clunk out this riding season 2021 but having 3 same 14 size needed helps as backups even if stranded on the road can call the wife and tell her to bring me another battery or just pick me up and take me home to get other 2 batteries out of 1 of 3 cycles.

I may need one soon so I checked prices the other day.  Rocky Mountain ATV/MC is selling the OEM Yuasa for $69.99.  If you add something to get the order to $75 shipping is free.  That's a good price for a good battery.

Happy to see this thread alive, since I posted it I have convinced myself to buy a Goldwing and put the Valkyrie on the back burner. Now the Valkyrie is back on the front burner. I may try the autolite battery just to see what I think. I may need to read the thread a couple more times before I make a purchase decision. cooldude
