To be good, and to do good, is all we have to do.

« on: January 18, 2021, 11:49:02 AM »

My heart as of late goes out to DDT (and his gal of course). I have been testing the thinking muscle lately as what could be done to cheer our friend on. This however lead to an intense battle of the hemispheres.

My first inclination (and from the more simple hemisphere) was to simply jump on the bike and go for a visit. But the opposing hemisphere countered with the fact that I live in Colorado, and it's the dead of winter. Darn. My feminine side kicked in and a thought to send flowers blossomed from my noodle. Then doubt. What if he wouldn't appreciate flowers? Heck he'd never send me any, not that I needed them. Maybe he loves flowers? Arg! I'm sure a lovely card would do the trick, right? At this point my muscle was beginning to spasm. Didn't he mention he wasn't home? Maybe he wouldn't get in time? Good grief, I've listen to Bible scholars debate less on more complicated topics.

It must have been exhaustion that allowed a final thought. Create a thread that everyone could join in on. Success! The hemispheres aligned!

Come one come all, let's do for Bruce what he so often does for us!

I'll start..

Bruce,

Though your posts as of late have both highs and lows it's prevalent that you are mostly upbeat, strong, and determined. I admire this about you. I've only come to have known you in recent years, but each encounter was cheerful, and often inspiring. I have thoroughly enjoyed being in your presence, hearing your stories, reading about your thoughts, and always feel a bit special when I get a reply or mention from you here on the forum  blush .

I find myself ever so aware of my replies to your posts. Suddenly short and direct responses are personally unacceptable! I find myself digging deep and putting forth efforts in such a way that forums don't often see. Silly I know, but in defense your posts deserve only best of responses. I'm glad you are still posting through all of this.

I wish you could be out contemplating life's current blights on Ali. To bad western medicine hasn't evolved enough to prescribe this sort of therapy! But alas this time of year reflects many things. The Winter Solstice however is behind you, and the slow pivot of earth has the days only getting longer, and warmer.  With each passing rotation I hope you are slightly invigorated knowing what you have endured, and are comforted having faith in the newness of Spring, and possibilities summer has to offer  Wink . Stay strong my friend, and please know you are in my prayers.

I love the idea, my thinker tinker though just ain't doing so good at putting the words one in front of another in the way to convey how much I care about our Bruce and how much I'm looking forward to seeing him and our girl once he comes out the other side of his current adventure...

(Even unpleasant adventures are still adventures.)

I'm sure all those pictures of the cute gals can help cheer anybody up...enjoy Bruce. Here's a couple more photos that might get your engine runnin', but in a different way

The whole point of going through your current  exercise  is to get back to doing what you do, and as evidenced by your continued interesting and thoughtful posts, you are handling it better than most could hope to. Not only am I and others on here wishing you well personally, we're also looking forward to once again reading about and seeing your's and ALI's continued journies from out on the open road.
Cheers from up here  in BC Smiley

WOW! Josh!

This is clearly yet another out-of-the-box idea your fertile and very creative mind has allowed to escape the confines of your cranium! First, I regret being the source of any inter-hemispheric conflict all of this may have caused for you, but I'd be being 'political' if I were to outright lie and say I'm not pleased!!! And, more than a little bit flattered and a tad self-conscious at the thought of being the center of attention and the receiver of so many generous statements!

My recent experience has not been pleasant... Worse, it will continue for what often seems like an eternity! No doubt it wears me down and saps my enthusiasm in ways not often previously experienced. Ease is just so much... well, easier... than struggle, challenge, set-backs, myriad other unpleasantries...

Perhaps one of the more surprising aspects of all of this, on the other hand, has been the realization of just how much positive vibes from people themselves worthy of great respect can produce uplifted feelings! Hearing from good friends and reading the messages of encouragement, hope, and confidence are so much more helpful than I ever would have imagined... Having special friends who come up with surprising and innovative ways to convey those good thoughts... well, that is very special indeed! Thanks, my good friend, I do appreciate ya a bunch!!!

Bruce,
We need you to get over this small setback so we can meet up again at the BBQ place for a couple of those fabulous pork chops.

Jim,

Talk about major-league encouragement! That certainly qualifies in my book! Heck, I'm drooling on the keyboard as I write this reply! Funny, as many times as I've dined there, I've yet to sample those famous fabulous pork chops... I think I'd better get on that little oversight PDQ! Are you back in Florida now? If so, let's do go for some chops and fixins... It'll be a couple more weeks before I could make the run, but no harm in dreaming about it well in advance! Thanks for the mind's eye view of some mighty fine swine!!!

You might have seen these before but, hey I've watched them more than once.

Careful on this first video, you could easily get lost somewhere..

Once you get your fill of the lonely road, this one might just get your heart beat up a little.

Like I commented when you initially posted this first video, that's exactly the feeling I got. The combination of your laid back and beautiful background music selection, the black & white video, and the rural countryside you're leisurely rambling through really puts one into relax mode for sure, and leaves you with just a good feeling overall. It's really one of, if not my favorite ride videos I've seen posted on this site. I would prescribe this for anyone in need of a pick-me-up cooldude
