I am not a lawyer, nor have I slept at a Holiday Inn in recent months, but I find the Axios article seemly in error. It states the following about a "Cease and Desist Letter". The letter also orders Lindell to "preserve and retain all documents relating to Dominion and your smear campaign against the company."
Lindell also must preserve all communications with any member of the Trump campaign, in addition to communications with Rudy Giuliani, Powell, Jenna Ellis and Lin Wood. However, when I looked up that a Cease and Desist Letter was (as opposed to a Court Order), I found the following definition. A cease and desist letter puts a person or business on notice that they are engaging in illegal activity, and if they do not stop, you will pursue legal action. It essentially serves as a warning and does not have any immediate legal consequences in the same way an order from the court or other government agency would.
However, because litigation can be time consuming and expensive for both parties, a cease and desist letter can be a way to quickly and simply resolve the conflict. In addition, sending a letter provides evidence that the party had notice of the illegal behavior but continued to engage in it. In some cases, such as trademark infringement, this may allow you to collect additional money damages if you decide to bring the case to court. https://www.nolo.com/legal-encyclopedia/what-is-a-cease-and-desist-letter.htmlI also looked up Axios on a the Media Bias Factcheck website. Which is linked below. It is interesting that it is hard to find a "left leaning" news source that Media Bias lists as having "questionable" reports. However, if my research is correct, the cease and desist order is just a warning about a potential court challenge. https://mediabiasfactcheck.com/axios/

They're trying to make an example of anyone who stood up for President Trump. This is quickly becoming a full blown witch hunt and must be stopped. (And honestly, this should probably be on the PaM board)

I dislike links posted with no comment. I don't like to click on unknown links and when I do, I'm often not able to view them because you have to subscribe (as in this case). If you care enough about a link to post it here, I would request that you include a short synopsis and/or an opinion.
This isn't just Dan, but all you link-only posters.

So if a business or tech company can refuse to do business with someone based on political views,, then whats the difference between this and the guy who would not sell a cake?

Regarding the cake (wedding cake I think), I heard that it was not baking the cake that was the issue but the words to be added to the cake.
But yes, there is no difference, with the exception of who is the "aggrieved" party.
As for a previous comment regarding links and summary, I know this is probably late but here is a summary of what is in the link at the start of this thread.
Dominion Voting Systems on Monday sent a cease and desist letter to My Pillow CEO Mike Lindell over his spread of misinformation related to the 2020 election.
Why it matters: Trump and several of his allies have pushed false conspiracy theories about the company, leading Dominion to take legal action. It's suing pro-Trump lawyer Sidney Powell for defamation and $1.3 billion in damages, and a Dominion employee has sued Trump himself, OANN and Newsmax.
The letter also orders Lindell to "preserve and retain all documents relating to Dominion and your smear campaign against the company." Lindell also must preserve all communications with any member of the Trump campaign, in addition to communications with Rudy Giuliani, Powell, Jenna Ellis and Lin Wood. Lindell told Axios, "I want Dominion to put up their lawsuit because we have 100% evidence that China and other countries used their machines to steal the election."
The big picture: Lindell met with Trump last week and was caught by photographers with notes referencing martial law and Sidney Powell. The CEO has become known for peddling election-overturning conspiracies and last year promoted a fake cure to the coronavirus.

Political affiliation is not a protected class by law. Sexual preference in some places is. Doesn't make it right. It just explains why it may not be illegal.

A person who would boycott a person or business simply for voicing one's support of a sitting President of the United States should be ashamed to look in the mirror.
This is like the Stalin and the Red Russians killing off the White Russians as they are no longer "needed" or Castro taking everyone's land and possessions and killing clergy and owners of companies. We are all needed and we should act like it is so
One may clearly say "I will not patronize so and so because his product sucks "
Such as Harleys (just kidding really) is totally different than "everyone should demean, boycott and destroy a company because they do not agree with my politics and those politics are not advocating harm to others My pillow makes great stuff. And the sheets are good too. It is not like he said he wants to smother the new guy with one of the pillows !
This is what is wrong with both extremes of political views and parties IMHO
We the people means IMHO all of we the people . Yeah, Carl it doesnt make it right

Then, my friend, I should be ashamed to look in the mirror, since I go out of my way to not give custom to any business that's supported the communist takeover of our nation, and will continue to do so.
