First thoughts where to purchase  from JP Cycle, Bike Bandits etc.
As it is-told knowone can ship across to Canada.
Talked to Honda Dealer in Winnipeg-OEM parts are not available for many items;
Anyone used, or thoughts on using Monroe MA785 air shocks?

This on a standard, tourer, or Interstate?   I have a tourer and changed to Interstate shocks many many years ago.  They are rated to carry more weight, are the correct length and work well for two up.

I went to Progressive Air Shocks and added a belly compartment that houses the air pump... up/down switch installed near the seat keylock.   A bit more invested than just swamping shocks, but works nicely to accommodate changing from 1up to 2up.

Hope that helps.

Go to amazon.ca (I think that solves the shipping problem?) and search for "progressive 444"...

There's other Progressive (brand) shocks, like the air shocks mentioned.

If you were able to get the 444s I'd think you'd like them. A lot.

I have the older, discontinued, 440s. There's people on here with the 444s and they can
list out the specifications of ones that are right for a Valkyrie.

Manitoban.... I agree with Mike here, you will like the Progressives, that's what I've had on my Interstate with a lot of loaded up 2 up riding over the years.
Fortnine Canada lists them on their website. Pricey now, but they're excellent shocks and stand up well. I've had parts shipped to me here in BC this past year from the US, from Partzilla and also from dealers selling through EBay. Ca, like Everret Power Sports in WA.

+1.  444-4221C on both bikes.   Great shocks!

I got my valk and had the same problem it would bottom out with the wife on it. I did some research and contacted Traxxion Dynamics and bought a set of Bitubo for around 475.00. They also set them up for my and my wifes weight. It was night and day difference in the ride and no bottoming out. I have been a customer of theirs for over 25 years.  Great company.

I'm looking hard at these

Worxs Shocks

"In 1973 Works Performance was started and created by my Dad, Gil Vaillancourt. In 2015 he passed away, and Works Performance closed down in 2017.

In 2017 Worx Shocks opened its doors and is run by Gil Vaillancourt's daughter using the same revolutionary damping system."

Don't expect to get them rebuilt in more than a few years.

Normally, not an issue at all (other than cost). With Covid, I think some vendors were not shipping to Canada perhaps
because  the logistics were more difficult with the border being being closed for traffic, etc and they decided it wasn't worth it.  The other issue with purchasing from the US for us is the $ exchange rate @ 1.33 - 1.35 the past year or so. It's usually better to find something stocked in Canada if possible. Can still find good deals in the US, just have to shop around a bit more.

For me, it's multiple cost factors.

Items in the US seem to be about 1/2 the cost. Shipping within the US is reasonable, $10-30. A large number of used item, available for low/reasonable prices.

Within Canada, new is about twice the cost. Shipping isn't cheap, $40-80. A very limited quantity of available items. Shipping in some cases is cheaper to the US, 1/2 the price in a couple of cases I checked. My profile ships to the US, and I need to change it to Canada, so I see the before/after.

New OEM, I seem to get the best price from my repeat local dealer, who I haggle with for Jobber pricing (30% or more off), and I pick up local, instead of shipping. Usually can get it in a week if ordered on time (orders placed on Friday, received by Thursday).

I've been looking for a used set of OEM IS shocks to have on hand, inexpensively, but the border is closed.

I put a set of Worx shocks on mine last year. So far I  like them. They are pricey but they are rebuildable. I was ordering mine right at the beginning of the pandemic and I received them just as they said. Very nice to work with.

+1 on the Bitubos..bought a pair last summer on ebay..shipped to home in 3 weeks from Europe..I think they are a little stiff but not harsh..easily adjustable, stock size, nice looking and about half price of progressives..I recommend at least looking into them
