Since I have been working from home during Covid, and I decided I would grow a beard. My work never allowed me to grow one until now, but I always wanted one. Well frankly, I hated it. I was always pulling on it, twirling it in my fingers and touching my face all the time(not good during Covid). I would always find tidbits of lunch left over in it. I guess that could be a good thing or bad thing Smiley. Managing the beard was also a chore. Facial hair(or at lease mine) tends to grow out in every direction know to man. I tried beard wax(Amish of course) to help manage it. Now, that stuff is really nasty. I had to take 3 showers to get all of it out. I just couldn't take it any longer so I shaved it off and went back to my goatee.  So tell me what is the secret and what don't I know about having a beard? Inquiring minds want to know?

Ron, that pic looks like your father. Glad you got rid of it. When I had a beard, I used conditioner in the shower to calm down the madness.

I had lots of full beards (shaving the neck though), but I never let it get over a quarter or half inch.  A little practice with clippers and a comb, and you can trim it up in two minutes.

But I've run a goatee since '92.  And still the same quarter to half inch.  And I trim the stash even with the upper lip, and shave down from the lower lip a half inch, so I'm not tasting my soup all day.  (or anything else I might be sticking my face in)

I use baby wash/shampoo for hair and heard at ever shower. For control brush or comb it when you do your hair. I like mine trimmed when I get hair a hair cut. Shorter is easier to live with. With all this It beats the heck out of shaving and is way less time consuming.

I have only had a beard since 1971, so I could still be in the nearby stage.

I have no good advice for you Ron. I’m just learning myself. I haven’t had a full beard since my Navy days. I tried some beard balm. Non-Amish though. I don’t use it much though. I will keep it till I get the vaccine, maybe longer. I haven’t had a comb for decades, now I do.

I touch my beard a lot also. Brenda makes fun of me because of it. (I think it has cut down on me playing pocket pool though)  Smiley

Thanks meathead!! Now I had to explain to Barb what pocket pool was, and she wished she won't have asked. You're ruining my clean cut image with her.  angel

There's two kinds of pool.  Billiards with no pockets in the tables.  And pocket pool with pockets in the tables.  Everyone knows that.   Smiley

You folks that let the beard get long and white. What are you going to do around Christmas? Stay home  please.

Confusing young children is not a good thing,  being there parent and having to explain that the guys walking across the parking lot are really not who the child thinks it is, is counter productive also.

It is always a good idea to trim the beard short during that holiday season of stay home.

The last time I was completely shaved was October 25 , 1969. That was the first time I got married.  I would trim , but never shave it off. I went into the military in July of 66. I had to shave sometimes twice a day. I swore when I got out , no more shaving.  My children have never seen me without a full beard.
When I got divorced , no shaving or haircut.
I then met my current wife. Hair cut and trim. Still I will not shave the beard off. If it falls off , that will be the only way.
