Been using the Bosch #3323 long filter for about 10 yrs. now. Use to use Supertech but Walmart discontinued them for a while thus I replaced them with Bosch.  Walmart reintroduced them using a different manufacture assumedly. The original was made by Champion.

If you buy the K+N, tighten it by hand only. Don't use a wrench on the welded-on nut to install it. Awhile back, there were several K+N housing failures. The general consensus was that they failed at the spot welds because people used wrenches or sockets to install them. Light fractures to the spot welds didn't leak immediately, but over time caused the cases to split open.

I'm not saying not to use the K+N. I sell Amsoil stuff but I don't push it or disparage the competitors.

I've used the Amsoil filters for years, but my reasonably priced Amsoil supplier shut down due to covid (he's back open now).  So while we were all shut down, I searched online for a filter and ended up with the Honda oil filter (plus, Mobil 1 synthetic) due to pricing.

Anyway...

Any pluses or minuses associated with the OEM filters?  I always figure the Honda engineers are pretty smart.

Honda doesn’t manufacture oil filters. Like everyone else, they farm it out to the lowest bidder. Enjoy your Chinese filter!

K&N has a good looking chrome filter.  I have to special order it at local autoparts store. Normally get it next day.  Part number, KN 303C.

If you like KN303 non chrome being black,  save about 4-5 bucks and get the hi-flo HF 303 same exact thing for around 8 or 9 bucks.  Use HI-FLO mfg. for all my cycles and ATV's for over a decade.  NO sense wasting 5 bucks on an oil filter that is identical especially if changing it once every year.

Yes they do and good price's over Lowe's, Home Depot, Do It Yourself, Ace, or whatever local variant home supply store. Most the time all use the "same supplier" of product but Menards price's are usually much lower. I just bought 6 qts. Shell Formula oil for the truck @ $12 thus less than Wally charges for Supertech oil. (Made by Valvoline?) I'm usually in their store @ least once a week on average. About the only exception is I use H Depot for treated lumber source for special projects.

I use an oversized PureOne PL14459. larger dia, same length as OEM

 Mann+Hummel now has full ownership of Purolator.

I used them in every vehicle I owned except my old BMW airhead that uses a cartridge filter.  I became concerned when I read a test that found the Pure One's dense media caused more of a pressure drop than other filters.  Then when I read about the torn media I started looking for an alternative.

that's why I use an oversized Pure one. I have an autometer oil pressure gage installed.
only time I noticed a difference btwn this one and an oem size filter is when the oil is still below 150F.  with the oem size filter the gage will show higher pressure at higher RPMs until the oil gets to 150-170F whereas the Pure one will show lower pressure at 150F. this indicates to me that the oem is in bypass mode longer than the pure one.
I'm pretty sure that is what I'm seeing.

That sounds reasonable.  One wild card is that in many of those tests where they cut open a filter and measure the media, the larger canisters do not always contain more media.  I wonder how much difference the oil's base viscosity makes?

Now if you get one of these Purolators with torn media you'll always be in bypass mode!

I've seen that with some longer filters, which is why the larger diameter one I use actually has more filter material.  It's a common size.
