Can't help on what kind but I'm with ya, I could ride it!
Another question: what kind of bike is Batgirl (I think that's who it is) riding?? It looks like it has inverted forks, kinda like a Valkyrie! Maybe...

Does anyone know what this machine is? It was shown at a mc museum in South Africa but the gal who posted couldn't give me any details. She said she'd be laughing too hard to ride it, but I could see me on it, turning heads, pointing my finger at people and saying, "Ciao".
It's an Ariel Leader. I'm sure they were a 250 two stroke made in Birminham in England. I quite often see them for sale on the English Ebay.. The one in the picture is about a 1958. Pitbull

My father used to have an Ariel Square Four.In it's day it was pretty fast.I remember him telling me the local motorcycle cop caught him speeding and challenged him to a race,if the cop won my father would get a speeding ticket,if my father won,the cop would let him off............Dad won,,,,,,when he left the Army he was asked to represent Great Britain on the speedway circuit,,,,,he chose to marry my mother instead. He sold the Square Four in 1970 for £19 ($30),,,,they are now worth more than my Valk.

One of the first choppers I ever saw up close was an Ariel Sqare Four that belonged to a neighbor. They are beautiful machines. These pictures were taken at Lone Star Motorcycle Museum, near Vanderpool, TX. This twin was in the shop being restored. I took the picture through the shop's window.
