Not retired yet at 74 working 10 hours a day except during golf season. No plans to retire but if I would I'm going to travel the country searching every lake, river and pond looking for all that equipment you all have lost while fishing.

I live on 2.7 acres that I keep manicured .   I have a 50 x 50 garden that I work hard in.....very rewarding to watch veggies grow weed and bug  free.      Ride....hunt.....fish....     and oh yeah......get yourself a tractor and the neighbors will keep you busy.

Retired 2007

Realized that my bank wasn't going to fund my bike riding especially cross country trips.  Cheesy

Went back to work part time as a school bus driver.

Worked as a yellow bus driver.

Started really disliking the early morning starts and moved to working as needed for a couple of private schools.

Moved to NE GA and now I drive in the afternoon for a nearby private school doing shuttle, fill in etc.

Pays for my 2 wheeled habit.

Feel free to visit sometime.

I have lived in the state most of my life, except for the six years in the US Navy and 3 years in Florida (Crystal River) and 3 years in Michigan (Midland, well really lived in Hope).
Thanks!  cooldude
My best pal lives in Kentucky now, I owe him a visit some time. I'd love to check out South Carolina and get some local knowledge from you. My ex is thinking about the area also, she makes 100,000 a year as a nurse and lives hand to mouth in this crappy state. It's only going to get worse here. She wants to buy a house, here they're way too much money for what you get.

If they can not hover they are not worth sh$t, just something about those machines that gets into the blood. Take your past expert skills in those hover machines and find something in that area.

Well now, I didn't say that, said I got bored.   They are some really nice folks, we just don't look at flying in the same way.   They don't seem to like trees, I can't tell ya how many hours of NOE I've flown.    smitten

Today I have returned to my Hornady Reloading Press to check the settings for various rounds.  Its been awhile since I played with it.  The good news is that once all the calibers are setup, it is truly lock and load.

I have two calibers set up and now working on the last two I need.

I use to fish a lot (well as much as I could).  We lived at Myrtle Beach so I could go to the beach and surf fish or go to a pier.  Had some friends I use to fish with.

Also had a small pond behind our house in Myrtle Beach.  Dad got a small boat and I could fish that way.

Don't have much tackle left today.   I guess computers and astronomy got the best of me in the 80's and 90's.  Then, in 2001 I got my second bike.  A Honda V-Twin.  I forget the middle, had attached hard bags and a windscreen and we did lots of trips to the beach.

But this is about today.

Today, I did some "forestry".  Some tree limb trimming and cleanup.  I am waiting until it dries up a little more to get rent a "chipper" to chip up all these limbs.  I could take them to the local "dumb" where they chip it up for use by others.  But, it would take lots of trailer fulls to clean up all the stuff we have done this winter.

I'm not much of a fisherman either.   I'm not into catching and killing something I'm not planning on eating (with the possible exception of snakes) and I'm not all that crazy about fish.  Catch and release doesn't do much for me either.

The wife's been feeding a lot of deer this fall and winter.   While venison isn't my favorite meat, if they hadn't become almost pets, I'd consider taking one.   That would remove at least one that I wouldn't have to kill with the truck I drive and would help reduce (at least by one) the number of deer I have to watch out for on the Valkyrie.

I'd like to tell you another of my retirement hobbies is inviting the neighborhood women over for wine tasting and body massage with exotic oils and candle therapy and beautiful music.   smitten

I'd like to tell you that..... but it would just be a great big whopper.

There are these two older gals in their 70s that like to stop and chat from time to time, but that's as far as it goes.    Grin

Well I did bring up the wine and oiled massage just the one time, and she smacked me in the nuts with her purse (with a brick in it).

I took that as a no.

I get up in the mor. with nothing to do. And by the end of the day i'm only half done. I have a wife. Eight snowmobiles and a r.v. ice fishing house for the hard water to keep me busy. It's going to get real cold in the next couple of days. That means the sleds will be parked and the ice house will be on the water. The only problem there is when it gets real cold the ice will split apart and heave. That means no driving after dark. Told the wife staying overnight tonight. Tight lines  Smiley

Now that is living on the ice!  Just do not be in a spot where several ice fisherman had to be rescued in Green Bay WI area for the ice separated on them 1000 feet apart and had to be rescued recently.  Out on an island of ice in say 100 feet of water is not to my liking no way to get back.  I wonder how they got their trucks and/or ATV-snowmobiles off the ice?

8 snowmobiles, and here I thought me and my kid was nuts on 6 cycles.... Undecided

bummer that fishing not cup of tea good way to pass the time in my book.  Doing anything at all vs. work is a good day in my book... cooldude

found out today at work the temp AP supervisor quit after only 2 weeks there,  after the 18 year age 60 AP supervisor quit 1 week ago.  Now the same bosses boss has bigger fish to fry vs. my piddly job.   2funny

Well I'm not retired yet (not pushing for work but taking it as it comes in) but this is interesting reading.  I find my STD list (ѕhit to do) gets bigger and emptied slower as the time goes by.  Though scratching items off it gets more satisfying at the end of the day.  I do have some organizing projects that have had low priority, to fit into my days.  The wife will love that to happen, being much neater than me.  Some clutter provides some comfort in my world - not hers.  I do have some personal projects (eg. postponed bike maintenance) that take a back seat to customer orders.

BTW John I see your lift adapter arrived 2 days ago.  I'm sure it will work with any 2-arm or platform lift you use.

I retired in Aug 2018 and went back to work in Oct on contract, that gave me a reason to get out of bed, and then retired again in March 2019.  Just after I gave my 2 week notice, the covid hit and they made everyone work from home. If I'd have kept my mouth shut, I could have collected a check all this time working at home.  After my second retirement, I kept busy with small projects at home, until I discovered procrastination.  That has freed up a lot of time.

I would like to get a place with a good sized shop where I can putz around on bikes and vehicles, and hone my procrastination skills.

Thanks for the heads up, sure enough it was on the front porch! Got it on and I’m sure it will be a valuable addition but I took back the lift I had bought. The arms were so far apart that there was only about 3/4” on each end on the lift arms. Then after I jacked it up all the way I noticed that the lift arms were not level, not even close for which there is no adjustment. I also found the stability I was looking for did not exist due to the lifts design. I’ll go with a more traditional lift next.

A while back I bought a self igniter Presto-Lite Turbo Torch and acetylene tank from a guy on CL. I think I paid $125 and was happy.
Late last Summer it coughed up a “hairball” of some sort that went sparking to the ground during a silver solder preheat. After that the torch flame was always too diffuse and actually melted the end of the brass tip a few weeks back. The prices online for parts and tips are ridiculous, so today I machined down the old 7/16-27 threaded tip and made a steel tip that fit on the threaded end. I’m happy again.

Well, being retired isn't all I've been led to believe.   Not that it's bad, it's just one of those things.   I've had a job since I was 12.

But, I am filling some of that time in planning and making arrangements for the Mississippi Madness Meet, Greet and Eat coming up 2-4 April.

It's not a full time job for sure and this COVID thing has presented some challenges but, it is something to look forward to.   Check it out, you might enjoy it.

Be fore warned, there are supposedly some scoundrels riding Valkyries coming to this.   I will have local LEOs standing by.  Wink

Well I am going to see if I can do some reloading.  I have the tools and stuff and since its suppose to rain here for the next three days, I figured it was a good time.

However, I also was looking at purchasing some "items".  I was looking at 12 gauge ammo at Palmetto State Armory (local sort of).  Anyway, blanks $0.80 a round.  Ok... then I saw this

FEDERAL HEAVYWEIGHT TSS 12 GA 3.5" 2.5 OZ. #7,9 SHOT. $13.00 a round.  Five rounds $$79.99 discounted to $64.99... REALLY???

Shotgun shells ?  They are getting expensive. For quite awhile it wasn't worth reloading them anymore, so the old Mec 650 sits in the corner. Hunting loads were still loaded but the target loads I bought/still buy by the case.

Fishing ?  I still go as often as I can. I try to just catch what I like to eat.

Hunting ?  Not anymore. But friends usually drop off a deer every year before we head south. A few roasts [ cut them up myself] are saved and some ground for sausage, the rest goes in the mason jars.

I'm 65 as of Jan 17th  , not retiring   as long as I can work.
The thing is , I've got work down to 4 hours a  day , 10 to 12 days a month and it's easy work  .
That is my retirement .
Plus we have 3 airbnb  homes that    keeps us a little busy
