Something we (sailors) use to hear a lot in the Submarine Service. What is this device and what is it used for?

A "soft blow hammer" ?
I don't know what it is called and Serk has one OH,,, I now know the tool's name. Had to look it up. It has to do with Kinetic Energy KE = 1/2 MV^2

It also takes advantage of Newton's First Law of Motion...

Oh and Serk, I just sort of caught the "phraseology" you used. I'll show you mine if you show me yours?

I had no idea submariners reloaded ammo aboard while underway (or at the dock either). It's a reloading tool. (bullet puller hammer) Though it's seems likely submarines have things that need only very light tapping on them (like torpedos and nuclear missiles) as opposed the 50lb monkey wrenches. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c-4iOOfgBQo

Jess, Yes correctly named and identified Frankford Arsenal Impact Bullet Puller And yes, we did have such things as Crescent Hammers. I cannot find a picture but it was a crescent wrench with a hammer welded to one side. And since we had welders on-board a few got made. Just because we could There was a saying, if I remember correctly, "don't force it get a bigger hammer".

Take a great big roll of cap gun caps, and whack it with with a framing hammer. It'd knock your ball cap off if you had your face down there (like a dummy).
