« on: February 12, 2021, 08:30:29 AM »

I want to greet everybodies.

I'm new at this forum. It was a hard task to register here, but now it's done.

As I understand this forum is one of the main source of knowledge about Honda Valkyrie.

I'm the owner of Honda Valkyrie GL1500CD 2002. I've bought it a few monthes ago, and still didn't ride it except of 20-30 kilometers test ride before buy it.

I'm from Russia, and Valkyrie is a kind of rare bike here, so we don't have a lot of internet communities related this bike.

I've read some posts without registration and I'm already grateful for a lot of interesting information. For example it was very useful to get A LOT OF information about petcocks and related hydrolock problem.

Here is some photos of my bike. I hope that photohosting I use is accessible from your countries.

Photo made by previous owner:

I'm trying her:

She is going to her new home:

My new one and my previous one (yeah, now i've got a lot of useless V-twin t-Shirts Grin ) :

Привет и добро пожаловать!

I had the pleasure of visiting your country in 1990, wonderful people and beautiful places. I hope to visit again, I never got a chance to see much outside the big cities...

We can get a bit argumentative here, but we're all friends, glad to have you join us!

Max,
Welcome to a wonderful organization.   Hopefully, at some point you'll make it to an INZANE.
Do you know the history of your Valkyrie?   It would be interesting to know how it came from the factory into your hands.

As time goes by, please share as many photos of your bike and your countryside as you can. What part of Russia are you from and what kinds of roads for riding opportunities are in your area? Welcome aboard.

You're welcome! I was only 12 years old in 1990, but I know that Russia has changed a lot from nineties of last century. May be now we have some political difficulties at the governments level but we are much more hospitable to our foreign guests now at the people level. It's because there is no more "iron curtain" on our border.

As I understand this forum is one of the main source of knowledge about Honda Valkyrie.

Hi, Mike! Thanx for links! I'll read as much as I can about GL1500, but to be honest I'm trying not to be in politics, I'm in riding Smiley

Shoptalk are great for maintenance and tech info on our Valkyries. I look forward to seeing some photos of places you ride over there in Russia here on this page
Thanx, Mike! Shoptalk is a treasury of knowledge! It's constantly opened in my browser last month! I like to photo my bike during rides, and at the end of season with great pleasure I will share it with community!

Hopefully, at some point you'll make it to an INZANE.
Do you know the history of your Valkyrie?   It would be interesting to know how it came from the factory into your hands.
Hi, Rams.
Route from Rostov to Athens looks like a nice and wet riding cooldude

Yes, I know all about Russian part of history, because I've bought it from my friend who was the first Russian owner of my bike. He bought it at NPA at 2014. And I have an autocheck report about American part of history. It would be funny if somebody of it's American owner was registered here Smiley

What part of Russia are you from and what kinds of roads for riding opportunities are in your area?
I'm happy to live at south part of Russia, not far from the Black sea (here is a link at google map: https://goo.gl/maps/fMMUYemEgE4ykAuT8 ). So my moto-season is long enough: usually I open my season in March and close it in October. But sometimes we have not so cold winter's days and I use it to make a short ride Smiley

Hi, Jess! I've ride it for 5 years and it was very hard decision for me to sell it. And that was my way to grieve after I sold it:

Hey Max, my second wife was raised on the Black Sea (Ünye Turkey).

With blonde hair and blue eyes, we were pretty sure there was some Russian in her family tree.  Smiley

If you don't mind sharing the information, what's a Valkyrie sell for over there?

There are different situation "before" and "after". My friend who bought my Valkyrie at NPA at 2014 spent about $10500:

Honda (motorbike)   $5 000
Auction fee   $500
Brokerage fee   $300
Shipping to NVRSK   $1 550
Port service: $670
Customs fee: $2200
Misc $300

Exchange rate of rubles to USD was about 40 rubles for 1 USD, so it was about 420 000 RUR.

But exchange rate changed from 2014 to 2020, and now it's about 80 rubles for 1 USD. Growth of this rate is faster than growth of salaries so now amount of imported vehicles is far less. It's because 10500 multiplied by 80 is about 840 000 RUR and this sum is bigger than majority part of bikebuyers are ready to pay for 20 years old bike.

So now we prefer to sell and buy motorcycles which were imported some time ago, because their local prices don't grew up so dramatically. So, I bought my bike for 350 000 RUR. It's about $4400, and it's half the price of the absolutely same imported bike.

If these guys can do this with an old Chevy, You should be able to make a Trans-Atlantic crossing with a Valk.  Cheesy

You'd certainly get the longest rider award.

Well if you're a "Southerner" then you must be a good guy.  cooldude

I see that you're Valk was originally sold in Tennessee.

One of our most active groups of riders is in TN.

Maybe one of the "Cool Kids" will recognize your bike and check in with some previous owner history.

Welcome to the club!

Do you have a source for spare parts, bling, whatever?
Not trying to be nosy, just interested.

There are few ways to buy spare parts for old bike in Russia.

There are some shops of spare parts. They don't have every part on their stores, only the most popular. But you can make an order for any partnumber for any vehicle (car, bike and so on) and they will buy it from their suppliers network. Usually it takes a time to wait, because parts could be shipped from USA, Japan or UAE.

As example today I ordered some parts (air-flter, some rubber gaskets and so on) for my firend's Road Star, and it will take about 30 days of waiting.

The other way to get spare parts is try to find some used parts at special internet communities in Russia. It's cheaper and you doesn't need to way so long.

And of course Ebay is not bad way to get something useful.

Hello, I can't imagine how did you know it Smiley I'm not a pro sportsmen, and I'm not familar with Pavel (but I've google just now about him). But I'm trying to keep dust away from my kettlebell. I've got only one at home: 20 Kg. When I visited gym (before all this COVID horror) there were more different weights.

But all I do with kettlebell is Kettlebell Push Press, just like it Smiley

You're welcome to tag along.  Adoption is far, far out of the question though.  FYI, I played some games with CC bonus miles and gift miles; got our 1st class airfare almost free (lay-flat seats/beds in 1st class, woohoo!).  The most expensive part of the trip will be the rental of 2 Valkyries.
