I'd related in another thread how I drove a wrecker when I was younger. Winter was Always BUSY. Did my restocking needed items food wise yesterday. I no Longer am required to deal with the idiots that "think" they "know" how to drive when it are icy. The old guy complaint ain't nowhere near as bad as it sounds!  2funny RIDE SAFE. And I've been to Mnapls-st paul in the dead of winter. My condolences!

All I'm gonna say is, there's a reason my zip code is 39402 and leave it at that.

yep is getting old over 10 days now single digit highs to -15 below at nights.  double digits hopefully by Tuesday.

Good thing look on the bright side is when it is that cold single digits or so the snow that does come is super light fluffy stuff.   Grin

My 7 year old car with OEM battery still is cranking over the car when below zero so far but takes about 4 seconds to fire up vs. 1 second now.  About how many years does one get out of a car battery anyways?  7 to 10 years I imagine or is 10 years impossible near daily driving longer 30 mile commutes to work daily mostly hwy miles?

I had my other 7 year old SUV OEM battery tested under load last winter and they said although it drops, not enough to get a new battery yet.   I know my cycle batteries never get over 6-7 years but more limited use which most all my cycle batteries and ATV battery is coming due am sure this coming year.  Luckily I have 3 cycles that take the same battery being 2 Valks and a suzuki burgman 650cc scooter.

A good reminder in this LONGER than normal cold stretch is to check tire pressure of both cycles just sitting under cover in this cold not using them and especially your vehicles since both my vehicles dropped in this cold 6 to 8 psi.  I have snow tires on 2 of my vehicles with no TPMS sensors so when the psi drops have no idea how low since the TPMS sensor light is always on with my snow tires and steel rims set all winter long.  As soon as I change to my all season tires/rims,  in a few miles the TPMS sensor light on the dash goes out since have the sensors in the OEM rims/tires.

I do not mind the cold but as I get older now age 50,  I dislike it more and more so am sure once into 60's the cold will bother me more so.  One thing for sure shoveling snow takes me longer than even say 10 years ago.

Yeah, after 53 yrs. in Florida you can imagine what my feelings are here in the Green Bay area now. It was -11 when I left for church this morning, I can only hope the good Lord blesses the hardy ones. Wink  I hope I'm organized well enough by next winter so I can load up the trike and head south for 2-3 months. It really takes a toll on this old carcass, I seem to feel it more this year.

I wouldn't leave an animal out in our weather right now - as I look at my remote reading thermometer that says -2.4F right now. And I'm not too happy about being out in it either - although I did snowblow the driveway clear this afternoon - in the 2F high temp for the day.

serk,  I saw that huge pile up with a few deaths on I-44 down in TX.  Not much snow but am sure the ice is wreaking havoc for guessing no snow plow trucks or salt trucks putting stuff down to clear the roads down there.

Still amazes me the idiots on the roads here in WI not being able to drive sensible.  Either they drive 60 mph way too fast for conditions or 20 mph way too slow for conditions.

we were headin for Naples on Thursday evening but due to the coming storms we are leavin Wed as soon as my closing is done, probably just in time for rush hour leaving nyc
Stay in my brother's condo west of Baltimore or push south depending on how tired we are Wed night

Would like to be south of Dc if possible before the crap hits the fan

And I have a virtual trial at 1030am Thursday !  First one for me  Will likely stop at a rest area and use the phone as a hot spot so I dont lose reception while driving

Dont have to check into the airbnb until sat afternoon

Anyone on the way want to say howdy?

Your weather is currently drunk in my yard in The Republic of Texas making a nuisance of itself.... Please come pick it up and take it home!

Sorry but I brought it down to you starting on the 31st. I left it at Danville Illinois. Took me 3 hrs. go 85 mi. to get out of Indiana that night 4x4 all the time. I left Houston 12 noon on the 10th. 3 hrs. later it rained hard all the way to Texarkana. Got to the other side of Little Rock and couldn't get a room due to all the electrical service/lineman staging for the ice storm. Had to travel on to Memphis and hunker down at a Comfort Inn Suite until 11:00 am the next morning. Ate at Cracker Barrel and got back on I 55. Went smooth until the Arkansas border and it turned to chit. Took 3 hrs. to go 26 mi. NO snow or ice removal at all in Arkansas. NINE 18 wheelers slide/wrecks and not one 4 wheel variety accidents. Had one 18W before Memphis that almost lost it on a bridge passing me and a State Trooper as we were going to slow at 40 mph. in icing conditions. I bet the trooper chit himself as he was beside the rear trailer wheels when it happened.

My son got the Ford 4600SU out and cleared the driveway etc. after that 1st. snows I left behind. Pretty good shape until this latest front got you and I both. My GKid's in Houston were out power the last time their mom texted.

I had the experience to stay in a very diverse community while we were there on Westheimer Rd. Never had any issues but my Beretta 950 was in my pocket all the time. Damn good food of all sorts. Got into Kolaches and the best Cajun food I've ever had outside Louisiana and I never been there to compare but... The place was the Red 7 chain. Damn it was good. Had some pork ribs at Stockyard BBQ across the street that were as nasty as our local BBQ establishment but the rest of their menu was pretty good. Learned how do U turns in my big ass GMC crew cab but 4 generous lanes was enough.

This is 1st. harsh winter we've had in 6 yrs. so enjoy as I like sharing!  Grin
