Bit of a snowy day here today, so after shovelling the driveway and going up to the lake for a hike, I settled in and opened You Tube and up popped these old car commercials and reviews from Chrysler.  We don't have regular TV mostly because there's not much on and I hate commercials, but I do find it kinda interesting to look back on car and bike ads from the past. Watched a series of these performance reviews on late 60's,  early 70's Mopars this afternoon. The music is awesome and the descriptive terms the guy uses are hilarious at times, like "down the 1/4 mile route to Squeelsville". Also the first time I ever heard of a GTX referred to as a "Gittix". Kinda neat to have these clips available from 50 years ago though, especially for those of us who were into cars, bikes, etc back then. There's others for GM's and Fords too with the same guy narrating...probably find one for a car you owned.

I once had a '69 Charger RT with the 440 4-barrel and Hurst straight H shifter. Only thing it couldn't pass was a gas station. I got it for a total investment of $88.00. At the time my wife worked for the regional manager of a finance company and it was a repo done in Orlando. The car was bought in Reading, PA and the guy had made no payments for 6 mo. when they caught up to him. It required 3 bids and since it didn't have a/c there weren't any other bidders. My wife called me to fill me in so I told her offer $100, which was refused as I figured it would be. It went past the end of the year and still no sale so I told her to mention to her boss that I knew it had already been written off. A couple days later I got an acceptance notice for the $88. Seems the buyer can't be charged for the legal stuff involved. So in the end, I got it for $88 and it only had 45k miles on it. Had to install a new clutch plate and repair the exhaust, sold it a couple years later for a few hundred dollars. Wish I still had it, lots of fun.  Grin

Somewhere I have an issue of Popular mechanics from the 60's showing all the new model cars for the coming year.  I look at it once every couple of years.
