Instead of bring up old posts on this tire decide to start a new thread.

Two week ago I found that my, then CT was losing air.   Also discovered that I had worn the tread down to the point it needed to be replaced (maybe 2K  mile before that point).  Doing some research, decided to go with the Zeetex CT1000.   It seemed to have pretty good reviews here and wanted to see if it would get more than 20K miles on it before replacements.

Ordered the tire on Monday two weeks ago, got it on Wednesday, had it mounted and back on Valk Thursday morning.  Tire looked good on the bike, but due to the local weather didn't get go for a ride till last Monday.  Only got in 60 miles cause I am getting old and 40 degree temps causes me to get cold after a hour or so.

Opinions on the tire.    The first two miles thought I had screwed up, there was a thump, best way to describe it, which thankfully went away.   Think it was a flat spot on the tire from sitting.  Anyway, the rest of the ride was good.   Hit some twisties, straight roads, slow and fast roads.   I was impressed that it felt like I had had it on for many miles.  Found that going into a turn took less effort, felt secure.   the ride is a more harsh  than the previous CT, but then I am running 42 lbs instead of 30.  Not bad just different.  I even hit a straight section of road on the CA/OR border which is not patrolled, to see how 90 mph felt.  No problems noted with about 4 miles going that speed.

I was able yesterday to go for a 100 mile plus ride (temps got up to 50  cooldude)   As noted on the shorter ride, tire felt good.  No problems on the curves, even pushed them a little.  Something I don't normally do this time of year cause of the gravel used  for ice.   Normally with feet on Hwy pegs, go around a 45 mile curve at 55 or so, 10 mph of the suggested limit.  I was able to do that easy and sometime went above that.  So the tire handle the curves great.   I am sold.  Now to see if I can get more miles before needing to be replaced.

Just to be clear the tire is the 195/65/16  CT1000  Truck tire.

50°, ay?  I doubt I'll see that until late April.   Angry

That Zee is a great handling tire, glad you're liking it.  cooldude  Finding it was kinda a blessing in disguise for me when the Austone was discontinued.  I like this tire more and am running one on both bikes.  I run 42 psi as I like the feedback in twisties and I switch from solo to two up often.  Seems to be the best for both situations.  It's a higher psi than I've run on others, but if I'm remembering correctly the truck tire has a 65 psi max which is more than most as well.  You might try 38-40, I probably wouldn't go much lower than that.

I've got about 7K miles on this tire on my Shadow 1100 Tourer (baby brother to the Valk).  I really like it and would have put it on my Valk if I could find the size I wanted.  My Zeetex is 185/75 and that's what I wanted for the Valk.  Found the Vredestan Comtrec in that size so I got it.  Just have a few hundred miles on the Comtrec but it feels just like the Zeetex so far.

The 185/75 is the tallest I wanted to go as I'm going to get shorter shocks to lower the Valk.  Put 11" Progressives on my Tourer and love it, probably go 12 on the Valk.

Glad you like your new tire.  Ride safe, stay healthy.
