Good weather and time = rolling down some good roads to keep the red bike from gumming up. I can state unequivocally - it's not gummed up! -Mike

I worry about "gum" every spring. I'm hoping in another month or so I can do some (maintenance free) degumming!

No gum is a good thing. I'll assume no cobwebs either.

Degumming is a big deal. Thankfully we are having a mild winter so far. My Valk has not had to sit for long periods (5-6 weeks) like most winters. Though have had to ride in less than warm conditions, 2 hours is usually enough at one time to keep the gum out.

Our temps are "unique" here, consistently one of the coldest spots in the continental US of A. I've done the midwinter "cold starts" in years past, and I'm thinking it may do more harm than good. I have an uninsulated 12x20, and only a smaller 1500w space heater. Even in early springtime I'll put that baby right on the cylinder covers and oil pan until until they're roasty before turning a key. It has been a milder winter this year, so I may try starting 'em up soon... Even tho I have an ethanol free fuel/Marine Sta-Bil 360 mix in the tanks, it's always kinda spooky. Wish me luck!

Degummed on Tuesday for an hour at 55 MPH and 55 degrees, outside of Olathe, CO. A fine, cool day for it.

It's been in the 70's here the last few days with abundant sunshine while I was stuck at making a living. Got the weekend off and they claim up to 5 inches of rain over the weekend. I was hoping to throw a travel bag on my bike and taking off a couple days to get the " gum " out. Took this picture yesterday in my front yard they popped up in the last couple days come on spring. November 8 is my birthday and fingers crossed that will be my last day at work. 255 days to go.

Mike,
Very sound strategy, my friend! That's the same technique I've used for many years... Unfortunately, lately I've found that while getting out for a scoot does reduce the gumming effects on our girl's carbs, it also tends to increase the 'gumming' effects on my drawers! Patience may be a virtue, but it's proving to be more of an illusive pipe-dream for this eager rider wannabe... Glad at least you and others are getting out...

I'll pray that you get sufficiently de-gummed and that we're all together in Hattiesburg and/or The Hillbilly Ride soon ... -Mike

Mike, I got my Valkyrie out for a degumming a few days ago too. I think mine had been patiently waiting way too long! ..... Several weeks for sure but the foul weather had given away to a sunny day and, although I had several outside chores pressing, I was feeling a stronger than normal urge to get some saddle time! I didn’t really have the time but I took it anyway!
Thanks for the post and photos!
