Quick question. I have sort of narrowed down my list of potential suppliers to either Mountain House or My Patriot Supply. Does anyone have any experience with either of these suppliers, quality, taste, ect. Web sites below for reference. https://mypatriotsupply.comhttps://mountainhouse.com

Without a lot of first hand experience with either, Mountain House makes some rations for the US military and came into existence making US military rations and has a long track record (Since at least the 1960's) of doing so. My Patriot Supply has a bit of a Alex Jones shyster vibe to their site. Could be perfectly fine products, but I'd be more inclined to go with the long term company with a track record than the johnny come lately for something like this... Mountain House has a 30 year guarantee on their products. https://mountainhouse.com/pages/our-shelf-life-guarantee

Thanks 98Valk,
We will be ordering some test stuff to see how it works before we do anything big. And yes, I know timing is everything.
While we have a natural gas powered generator that should be able to supply any power needs we have as long as the natural gas supply is there, we were just talking about getting a small propane stove top thingy for real emergencies.
And yes, the water is also an potential issue. It takes energy and supply for water. Supply is obvious and energy to pump it to the top of the "tower".

I have a big pile of canned goods. Some may be approaching 15+yo. In all that time, only one can blew up. Some stuff gets rotated, and other stuff just stays in the back of the pantry forever (because it's that good). I hope to never actually eat any of it. If I do eat any, you can bet it's an emergency. I don't have any animals to test it out on. Our old cat was never big on beans anyway. He'd just look at you like you're an idiot ( give me any more of that crap, and Imma sh!t in front of your chair again). Just thinking about this, I have 4 cans of asparagus tips that's free to a good home.

We have been doing this for 45 years. There was a company called Provident Pantry but is called Emergency Essentials, web address beprepaired.com. We like the freeze dried better due to taste and more nutrition left in them compared to dehydrated. Freeze dried is fast. We do have some 30 year old MREs that are still good. We have all types of food. I think Patriot sells essentials products. There is group or bulk buy from essentials at a reduced cost and they at times have free shipping if quantity is enough. The non fat fortified powder milk from essentials is great for powdered milk. Every thing from essentials has been good. Patriots 72 hour kit is good. I know you have searched a lot but you need to find the best price for what you can get, with a 25 or longer year storage. Storage needs to be a constant temp if possible for the shelf life. We try and keep our stuff at 60 and low humidity. #10 cans is what we get, there are pouches, that we have had 10 years, but do not last like the cans. You also need to do rotation of some of your products every few years, eat and buy to restock, just do not let them sit if the temp fluctuates a lot. They can end up tasting bad and no nutrition. It is not a cheap endeavor, takes a lot of time to get a stock pile that will last 6 months or more.

thanks for https://beprepared.com/ been looking for a non-fortified milk. Vitamin A palmitate used in milk products is a synthetic form of the naturally occurring A Palmitate. It is not healthy to take. https://www.lilsipper.com/the-truth-about-vitamin-a-palmitate/for Vit D it be better to use a high quality liquid drop Vit D3 supplement than what is in the milk product.

We also use Wise Foods. (If you go online to their website, they used to send samples so you could taste it.) I would think it is not much different than the others, so watch prices.
I also recommend that you buy the buckets of what you want or like to eat, rather than several types of meals mixed together. Some of the deserts and veggie or side meals I don't care for.

IMHO wise foods are not good due to additives in all of their foods esp maltodextrin, not healthy and it is in many everyday foods. https://draxe.com/nutrition/maltodextrin/ Top 6 Dangers https://food.news/2019-03-13-did-wise-food-company-just-turn-over-entire-list-emergency-food-customers.htmlWise Company, producer of emergency and storable foods, is facing a class action lawsuit for “unlawful, unfair, and deceptive advertising and business practices.” As it turns out, one cannot actually survive on Wise’s products for the advertised length of time. Now, a new report from The Daily fine Americans alleges that in addition to faulty products, Wise Company appears to have handed over its complete, confidential list of customers to the U.S. government. so now they are called "ready wise" on some websites.

Quick question. I have sort of narrowed down my list of potential suppliers to either Mountain House or My Patriot Supply. Does anyone have any experience with either of these suppliers, quality, taste, ect. Web sites below for reference. https://mypatriotsupply.comhttps://mountainhouse.comWe have used both and most definitely recommend the Mountain House Brand. It actually tastes good, long shelf life easy to store. We purchase stackable totes and the No. 10 oxygen absorbing cans for freshness. They have breakfasts also that are darn good. This was initially for emergency food supply, eliminating tossing out expired grocery store cans. When we remodeled we eliminated the kitchen soffit useless space and installed cabinets/pantries floor to ceiling. The upper spaces are stocked with Mountain House, the Totes are stocked up in spare room. We have tried many and this is the best for us with a better selection and taste. I did not care for the Patriot Supply at all, either the packaging or the quality/taste/choices. Mountain House here for certain. No question about it I gave our Patriot Supply Totes away to family and co workers, didn't care for it and accumulated more than I could ever use. Good for power outages, bad winters up north hurricane season in Florida and the state of chaos our Nation seems to be in. Good to be prepared and not have to fight the mobs for provisions.
