We are having black eyes and cabbage.  We have always heard black eyes for good luck cabbage for monetary success.   We have tried cabbage before and but it has yet to work as claimed.  Maybe this year...

I just had the conversation with my lovely wife regarding black eyed peas on New Year's Day.

She insisted she's never eaten black eyed peas on New Year's Day.

I asked whether she's had bad luck.

I made a statement and she mumbled something about ill-advised marriages.

I'll have to get back to you all on this.   I don't think we're going to be eating black eyed peas this year.
