My apologies for the topic but I don't play golf.  My son-in-law is an avid golfer.  His birthday is coming up in a few days and the wife wants to get some golf balls for a present.

I could look at on-line reviews but figured there might be a golfer or two her that could make some recommendations.

So, I am looking for recommendations.

Thanks in advance.

I’m a shitty golfer. But, I like it. A lot of the golfers I’ve played with were very preferential towards their brands and editions. Have her sneak a look in his bag.

Your daughter will probably know or she can sneak a look in his bag.

I happen like a soft ball. Calloway supersoft or most any of their softs. Titliest NXT tour soft is also a good ball.

Thanks guys, but looking in the bag is not an option.  Daughter is on the road most of this week and they are about 200 miles away.

I will give these a look.

 Calloway supersoft or Titliest NXT

My dad golfed but that was many, many years ago and I did, once, shag some balls on a driving range at the local golf course (where we lived in Myrtle Beach) when I was 14 or so.  Long, long time ago.

If you want to have some fun with him, also buy a batch of super-balls. They're illegal for tourney play but a real blast if you want to trick fellow golfers. I did it once to my neighbor and had some fun at his expense, didn't tell him for 2-3 weeks what I did. My days of 300 yd. drives are long gone but that day I put one 5 yds. out from the green on a 400 yd. hole. He about filled his hang-free boxers.  Grin

I'm with Patrick on the Calloway, I also like a soft ball.

I knew you could but I am super impressed that it is hard to by new Titlest NTX golf balls but you can buy lots of used ones.

I guess they are in demand for one time use.

I went to the  Callaway Golf website.  Found these.

Chrome Soft Golf Balls

I can also get them annotated with a "message" in three lines on the balls.  Only issue might be timineing for delivery.  His birthday is next Monday.

I shall keep the square balls in mind for Christmas.

I order some of these from Callaway Golf.  We shall see if he likes them.

I'd say go to the Pro Shop of the golf course he mostly frequents and talk to people there for advice.

It's like asking, "What is the best oil?"  If you get him a top line ball such as ProV1, Chrome Soft etc and he would rather have something else, he can always take them back.  If you are out of town, buy from Dicks, Golf Galaxy, Carls etc.  They have outlets just about everywhere.

You know I had not thought about getting them from a place like Dicks.

There is one about 25 miles away.  But I would have had to package them, and then ship them.

Ordering directly from vendor they will be drop shipped.  We shall know in a week or so if he likes them.

Pretty sure these are not legal for tournament play.

Judging by your saying he is an AVID golfer, he does not suck like I do.  I cannot tell the difference between one golf ball vs. another much like a softball is a softball, etc.    If he sucked like I did playing about 6 to 7 times before age 20,  I would invest in a golf ball retriever that extends out 30 feet or so to get the golf balls out of the pond/water while golfing.    I shoot mid to low 70's and some say that is good but NOT for ONLY 9 holes...    2funny

I have a golf ball retriever in my garage and have used that when the kids were little when they threw frizbee's etc onto our ranch home roof and came down fairly easily with that retriever.   2funny
