I love my Valk, but I have had it going on 7 years and kind of want a new ride. I never was really interested in the Valk's big brother the Gold Wing, but Honda did a slight re-design on them a couple years ago and they look pretty cool. My local dealer has a couple Wings coming in Mid- March, I will check them out. I don't want the tour model with the hard bag behind the passenger seat, just the base model. The new wings are available with a DCT - automatic transmission option. I enjoy shifting, so I do not think I would want an automatic. Has anyone driven an automatic wing? If so, how did you like it? One minor negative aspect with the DCT, you loose a little HP and torque.

I’ve got an 18 manual and like it. I got the base model and added the trunk and centre stand because I didn’t want the extra electronics on the Tour model and also like the matte grey colour on the base. Centre stand is really nice to have for adding air, washing it, fuelling it and removing the rear tire.
It really is a good bike. The front suspension is amazing, better than forks.
The Apple CarPlay is nice for navigation and music.
Wife and I have toured from Quebec to California on it and have loved every minute. And the 2021 has a bigger trunk, if you decided to go with it.

Hi Adirondack Bill,
I went for about a 45 minute test ride on one when they first came out and absolutely loved it. Calling it an automatic isn't wrong or anything, but it also doesn't do it justice. The dual clutch transmission grabs gears about as fast as you can imagine and there's almost no drop in momentum as it upshifts. I don't care how fast you are at pulling the clutch in on manual, keeping up with that shift would be like trying to tap your brake as fast as abs can. Also has a paddle shifter if you want to up or downshift here and there, or just run manual with the paddle.
It's a gem of a bike. I'd like to own one, one of these days when the time is right. I'm exceedingly happy on my F6B, so not in a hurry, but it was a big smile creator for me.

Bill go for it the DTC is way better you are never without power and the shift is way quicker than anyone could naturally shift. I was looking at them and thinking of trading mine Valk in but decided against it. If I were buying one it would be with the DTC.

I wanted a change after 7 years on a Heritage. Desired 4+ cylinders and low end power. That pretty much left BMW, Yamaha and Honda. I was worried about BMW reliability and repair and the FJR was a bit to RMPy for my taste. That left Honda. Loved the ride of the '18+ GW but couldn't see paying $18k+ for all the stuff I didn't need. Landed on a '14 Valk and much credit to all the great people on this forum that helped me make the right mods. Best, Terrell

I think I'm going to sit tight w/ Renegade my 98 Tourer forever and enjoy my 14 F6BD as you do Jason for a few more years. I really do my F6B.

It's a great bike, isn't it Farside. In fact, both of those you have, are. I'm wondering if you appreciate the beautiful mechanical sophistication of those six carbs, as I do. I had a 99 and I always thought there was something wonderfully visceral about the way it connected the throttle to the ride. The new fuel injections are of course great, especially from the perspective of maintenance, never having to worry about jets, etc. But the old Valk was really something special, imo.
The F6B has also been an amazing motorcycle for me, too. When I got off the DCT after the test ride, I didn't at all feel like I was getting back on an inferior bike. Just different. In fact, better wind management overall. Like a steam engine cutting through the air.
It's been a tough year. But as far motorcycling goes, we're living in some pretty cool times.
