I mowed the lawn today, and after doing so I sat down and had a cold beer. The day was really quite beautiful, and the drink facilitated some deep thinking. My wife walked by and asked me what I was doing, and I said, "Nothing." The reason I said "nothing" instead of saying "just thinking" is because she then would have asked, "About what?" At that point I would have had to explain that men are deep thinkers about various topics, which would lead to other questions. Finally I pondered an age old question: Is giving birth more painful than getting kicked in the nuts? Women always maintain that giving birth is way more painful than a guy getting kicked in the nuts, but how could they know? Well, after another beer, and some more heavy deductive thinking, I have come up with an answer to that question. Getting kicked in the nuts is more painful than having a baby, and even though I obviously couldn't really know, here is the reason for my conclusion: A year or so after giving birth, a woman will often say, "It might be nice to have another child." But you never hear a guy say, "You know, I think I would like another kick in the nuts." I rest my case. Time for another beer. Then maybe a nap.

That wasn't nice... you're going to keep him awake pondering that question. If I might impart some thoughts and equalize the comparison somewhat. Men have more nerve endings than women in that general area; bc of this, the pain of childbirth would likely kill a man. For a woman, although the pain is excruciating, it doesn't result in death. Childbirth vs a kick in the nuts: The pain of the kick passes comparatively quickly. For a fair comparison you would have to be kicked in the nuts every 2-5 minutes for 12+ hours and then push out a rock hard stool while having a kidney stone. Wanting to repeat the experience: With childbirth a bunch of hormones kick in and kind of dull the memory of the pain (they remember it hurt, but they don't re-live the pain) and then there's the wonderful reward at the end. With a kick in the nuts, however, when a man remembers that pain, he re-lives it, plus there's no great reward afterward. Now, for a fairer comparison, offer a man a kick in the nuts and after he recovers he'll be rewarded with the best sex of his life. I'm betting most men would take that kick. Just sayin'

reminds me of this one The man rushed his wife to the hospital as she went into labor. Upon entering the delivery room, the doctor told the couple, "I have invented the new machine that you might want to try, it takes some of the labor pains away from the mother and gives it to the father. The worried husband immediately said yes. He didn’t want to see his wife suffering so much from the pain of childbirth.
The doctor hooked the machine up and put it on ten percent of pain switched from the mother to the father. The husband didn’t feel any pain. He said, "I feel okay, turn it up a lot more."
The doctor turned it up to fifty percent. But the husband said, "Why don’t you just put it all on me because I’m not feeling a thing.
Surprised that the husband was not feeling any pain, the doctor warned, “This much could kill you if you’re not prepared."
"I am ready," the husband boldly answered.
With much hesitation, the doctor turned the machine up to one hundred percent, but the husband still didn’t feel a thing. This made the doctor think that his invention was a failure.
The couple went home, happy with pain-free labor. But, when they arrived home, they found the mailman dead on the front porch! The wife could not look at her husband in the eye.

Another one:
A young lady became pregnant for her first time and was very concerned about the amount of pain she would experience during child birth. She discussed this with an older friend that had several children. The older lady said, " I can perhaps give you a way to simulate the pain. Grab your lower lip between your thumb and forefinger and squeeze it as hard as you can.
The young women did as instructed and and said, "Wow! that was painful, but not as bad as I expected."
The older women said, " OK, now grab your lower lip and stretch it over your the back of your head."

If men could give birth we would demonstrate just how easy it is. Women love to get the pampering/sympathy afterwards and we love giving it but face it. All species of animals do this and don’t seem to complain much. Men know how to bite the bullet and get through anything.

Interesting comparing pains that each other can't experience. I did have a broken pelvis that the doctor described as an open book fracture with a two inch spread. He told me I no longer had to hang my head when women talk about the pain of childbirth. Honestly we learn to put up with what we have to endure. Mothers do have a remarkable ability to forget the intense pain of childbirth when the longing for another baby presents itself.

Pretty much this..... I have an aunt that delivered naturally (I.E. no anesthesia) and also happened to have a similar form of Sciatica from badly herniated L5-S1 and L5-L4 as I did. I asked her, which was worse. "I'd take a week of the worse labor pains, non-stop, in lieu of 5 minutes of the sciatica pain." So I guess I've got that going for me? Although I'd rather have not had to go through that...

Ray, Well, ol' buddy, I'm afraid I can't help you with this one... I do hope, though, that Connie is wrong; and that, like with that danged ol' tune we keep humming because we can't get it out of our heads, I don't begin losing any sleep over this! It's way beyond my paygrade to fully comprehend anything involving the 'different' way of thinking of those delightful but confounding creatures, particularly any attempted comparisons of us with the stronger sex. My ponderable interests, ergo my thoughts, go in a very different direction (I try to avoid 'digging' in bottomless pits). I also doubt transsexuals will ever be able to help us out on this either... but, I reckon we can never completely rule out anything that the future might bring... I can affirm that I, like all men, do not want to repeat any experience involving trauma to the testicles!!! Likewise, I cannot explain the willingness of most members of the female persuasion to endure multiple childbirths. Some mysteries of the universe are simply unfathomable, and this is, in my view, simply another of those... At least I sincerely hope I can let it go that easily... I do indeed hope Connie is well off the mark this one time... That said... I do greatly admire the accumulated wisdom you've displayed through the sharing of the dialog you had with your spouse! Your vast experience clearly is evident there... I know you and your nice bride have already celebrated your golden wedding anniversary, so your credibility is as obvious as it is impressive. Indeed, you skillfully avoided the cul-de-sac of endless questions and still managed to not raise any rancor or recrimination... Well done! It's great to see you post! I was thinking of you just the other day and wondering how you're doing... I hope things in the southeast corner of the Republic are going to suit you, and that perhaps we'll cross paths again on a ride sometime... No kidding, it is great to hear from ya!!! DDT

I can’t say I’ve ever had any bad sex, but I’m willing to admit that maybe I’ve never experience the best sex ever. So my only way of determining that would be to give me that experience, then if I’m willing to take a kick to the family jewels to go again, that would have to be the best sex ever.

Connie, Age cohort! <snort, chuckle> I admit I am very much in 'age denial', but I also confess that on this matter, I still tend to agree with Ron... A moot point nowadays anyway, however, so I have no comment on John's point... Maybe if John makes it to Hattiesburg, we can discuss this further... DDT

DDT Alas, I won’t be making that trip but not without considerable effort on my part and offers of help and a bike to ride on arrival. Turns out that week is spring break for my 5 year old grandsons and they will be staying with Nana and Poppa. But I will keep on the hunt so that the meeting may take place somewhere this year. I have a feeling this gathering of “fools” could be an epic event for all involved.

You are right about the having another child thing. What I have found out is gauge it on the pain of trying to pass a Very large stone. Because of some of my problems I go through this Much too often. My conclusion on the passing of stones is this is how Our God gives us a hint what child birth is like. What I hate about it most is no, I say no medication that was given To me has ever over come the pain short of knocking me the hell out.

Once I was taking care of a female patient that was passing a kidney stone.
She told me that she had given birth to 5 children and that she'd rather have 5 more than pass another kidney stone.
I worked EMS for 30 years.
You see so much that you become desensitized to the plight of others.
I always felt sorry for people that were passing kidney stones.
