The Vulcan 2000 got a lot of very good reviews, and happy customers. For a Vtwin. Water cooled makes a difference. This was my '02 1500 Mean Streak. Not a traveler, but a great rider.

A friend of mine had one for awhile. It ended up stripping the transmission output shaft and drive pulley. Kawasaki knew all about the failures, but because his was a 2008, he had to fight hard to get them to cover it. Here's a copy of the bulletin: http://panavi.kz/kawasaki/vn2000/remont/vn2000/MC06-07.pdfAside from that, though, he really liked the bike. I almost bought it when he decided to sell.

I tend to agree. I don't care what anyone else rides but, IMHO nothing compares to a Honda Valkyrie. I did ride the 1832 version and will admit, it's one nimble, powerful bike and to be honest, a better and more advanced machine than my own Valkyrie. I just can't get past the looks. Shrug To each their own. Rams

Having a Vulcan 1600 Nomad recently and if a person never rode anything more powerful, you wouldn't like it. The VN2000 is at the top of Kawasaki v twin performance like the VTX 1800 is to Honda. Unfortunately owning a Valk just makes a v twin seem very mundane.

I hear ya man, I'm lured a bit by it's easy top speed and lower rpm, not to mention fuel injection and better gas mileage?

One was for sale here recently, powder blue with 70,000 on the clock. I wanted to test ride it but couldn't do it knowing I don't have the liquid funds free at the moment. He was asking 2900.00 and it sold the first weekend it was offered. I'm thinking someone picked it up for 27-2800.00 I also dig the VTX 1800, a friend of mine has one and we're slated to take a ride at some point, I'm curious to see how it feels compared to my Valk.

Have ridden the 1500/1600 and 2000 Nomads up at Americade Also the Rocket before the limiter was put in and the 1800 Honda as well as the big Indians
IMHO they are all great bikes, the rocket far and away the fastest acceleration I have felt better than the Valkand the big Indian was really nice as well but there is something that keeps bringing me back to the flat 6 which is like a porsche engine to my ears. .. and the sound when cruising next to another Valk between 70 and 80 as the sych vibration is a thrill to me
My fairing rattles from the potholes and cant stop like an abs bike but I wont sell the 01 interstate ever
Now the 99 I am ready to part with, dont need 2 of them

I hear ya Evan, this past summer we were sitting next to a guy in a Porsche 911 at a stoplight, he looked over at the Valk and said 'man, that sounds good' as I sat idling. I told him it's a flat six with 100 ft lb torque and 100 hp.. I could tell by the look on his face, that guy probably owns a Valkyrie now Jess, that's a bummer

I was with Valkhound this past week when a gent from OK came in to buy a Valkyrie he had. The gent had brought along his son and a friend who was a HD rider. So of course, Dana (Valkhound) had to demonstrate the nickel trick to the HD rider. He just stood there with a blank look of astonishment on his face and then said, there ain't no way I can do that with my bike. We all laughed. One of those priceless moments you just had to see. The best closing line to a demonstrated nickel trick to a hog rider is to tell him he couldn't even keep a brick (on end) from falling off his engine while running. (because he couldn't)

Those were the 800 and 1500 Kawi Drifters.
The 800 was actually the better Indian copy than the 1500.

I knew about those, some dudes carried it over to the VN2000, there are some nice looking bikes done that way.. like this one.

Yes, it's a great V-Twin. Fast, comfortable, fun to ride, reliable. I would not want one for an only bike but it's s great bike for what it is. For the price they bring now certainly would be no regrets.

too bad Victory owned by Polaris went out of business I always felt their Vtwin's were one of the best looking and designed ones out there, especially the cross country tourer. I guess Polaris did not want Victory to compete with their Indian brand which I feel was a mistake. tough call which one would be best fit and function for a vtwin, vulcan 2000 or honda vtx1800 or victory lineup?

I wonder why Polaris Victory line never hit it's stride, they seemed to be good bikes with a decent following. Maybe because they tried to compete with Harley straight up? A good friend has his eye on this new Indian Chief offering, it's got some good power specs. https://www.indianmotorcycle.com/en-us/vintage-dark-horse/
