I need to replace the battery in my '98 Tourer . What is a good and reliable battery you have had good service from . Please advise and thanks .

I'm running a Battery Tender Lithium battery. and it's great so far. you would have to get a Battery Tender charger that would work on both lead-acid & lithium and set it to lithium on the switch to charge. The Battery has a reset button on the end plug and is screwed into the battery to reset if needed. There is no weight on the battery compared to the lead-acid......its really great.....

Yusa AGM are some of the better one's I've had. Cheaper than lithium.

YUASA lead acid batteries seem to be the Cadillac of motorcycle batteries. I did have one go bad (shorted cell) at around 24 months. In desperation and on a weekend, I replaced that YUASA with a Duracell from Batteries Plus. That battery is going strong at 36 months. So, yeah...a Duracell.  I'll probably go with a lithium battery once the Duracell gives out. Also, I have a YUASA battery in my wife's Shadow that's coming up on 60 months. It's going strong and shows no sign of giving out.  |

On battery tenders (when not riding) my Yuasa's last for 5-7 years, or more.
BUT, my bikes are not kept in an attached garage.
Though my shed has not burned down in 30 years.

my Bike Master LifePo4 battery gives better mpg and acceleration due to it being 6 lbs lighter than the AGM it replaced. that's six pounds of dead weight removed and along with the PAIR valves complete removal which is another 3 lbs, it was a great diet of 9 lbs.
I used a larger size LifePo4 than standard due to riding down to 30F temps. Using a correct size battery would have been 1-2 lbs lighter.

Yuasa or Napa are the only brands I've used. Never had a battery failure but did replace a 13 yr. old Napa out of preventive care. Haven't tried Duracell though two of our four wheelers use them. I'm big fan Sam's Club for tires etc. thus the Duradell purchases.

I just bought an OEM Yuasa (YTX-14BS) from Rocky Mountain ATV/MC. Only $70 and it arrived in 2 days. They have free shipping over $75, so I added a $10 tool.
