The RustyValkyrie came with an aftermarket air horn.  I'm keeping it in a cardboard box along with other left over pieces-parts but it needs work that I don't want to do right now.  So, I found a stock horn and mounting bracket (I think both are OEM) on Ebay since that was the easiest solution to having a horn (the PO actually left the OE connectors on the wires, who'd a thunk it?).  My problem is I can't figure out what bolt the bracket mounts to.  I've been looking for a picture that is close enough and clear enough to give me the hint I need but so far no luck.

Can someone tell me or take a picture of a stock horn mounted on their bike so I can see where the bracket attaches.

Thanks.

The OE horn location was different from interstate (pods in the way, so mounted lower) to tourer & standard.

This standard has a fancy cover added, but I think this is the stock location.

This guy put the much louder Stebil Nautilus in the same location.

Thanks Jess, I see, on my bike there are 2 or 3 bolts in that area.  I thought I had figured it out yesterday but it turned out the one I figured it was (actually a stud on a bracket into the block) was too short to go through the horn bracket I bought which left me scratching my head.  You wouldn't happen to have a pic. from the rear of the horn?

Sorry, I was looking for a more detailed mount picture, but couldn't find any.

You Google up Valkyrie horns, you get a 1000 pictures of all the better horns people upgrade to.

Thanks Jess.

After my last post I was sitting here thinking about it when the light bulb went on.  The place I had seen that looked like it was the place to attach the horn bracket was actually THE HORN BRACKET.  The PO had left the stock bracket there.  The bracket I bought must have been for the IS.  Anyway I got the horn on, now I have to lift the tank to get the wires out, I left them tucked up under the tank to keep them out of the way.  It's good that I haven't filled the tank yet.

Another thing a wise man might do when the tank is off, is run a line or two under there (coiled up on each end), so if he gets a wild hair to do something electrical in the future, he doesn't have to pull the tank again.  (It's not a big deal to pull, but it still isn't fun.)

The IS horn mounts down on the right engine guard.

What like pulling the tank is a big deal. Every time you do it, it gets easier. Be thankful anytime you need to pull the tank, eventually it will be so easy you barely think about it

Like pulling nose hairs?

(Actually pulling the tank is easy, it's the blocking it up and reaching under in a small dark space to unhook things, and the petcock, and then hooking them back up that sucks.)

Who does that. I tried it once it hurt and it didn’t even work. They make special scissors that work great
