I pulled my fork tubes and things went smooth with the left fork BUT I can't get the fork cap off of the right fork.
Does the allen bolt in the bottom (by axle) prevent the fork cap from coming off-just a prayer at this point.
I mean I have put some force and hammer blows trying to get that darn thing off.

Can you give me something to work with here?

Did you loosen the top triple tree clamp.  That's the only thing I know of that would keep the cap from coming loose.

Tubes are off of the bike.  Thanks-that would do it too.

If you would slide the shock back into the triple trees and only tighten the bottom tree you would then be able to loosen the cap. The problem being that there is no purchase short of a pipe wrench with the shock tube. The bottom tree will suffice as the wrench!

Needed to loosen the caps before removing the tubes. Top tree pinch screws need to be loosened in order to loosen the caps.

Better to be judged by 12, then carried by 6.

Thanks to all.
I guess I've done what is reasonable and tried what you have suggested.
I think I got some talkin' to do with the a....hole, I mean mechanic that was supposed to have replaced the leaking seal in the first place.  Hmmm, either he messed it up OR charged me for work he could not have done either.  There's always Pinwall.
Thanks again.

Ammo source.  I bought some 9mm hp at Cabella's recently on line.  Haven't checked their 380 stock yet?
Happy New Year to ALL.

I would reinstall the fork and leave the top triple tree clamp loose. This will hold the fork tube good and tight while you remove the fork cap. Hopefully the thread's arn't buggered up.

Have you tried installing that fork and sliding it up beyond the fork threads and tightening both upper and lower clamps, then pull on a wrench with a cheater bar and give the plug a whack[technical term] with a big-ass hammer.. One way or another that plug has to come loose..

When taking mine apart, I done the same as suggested here.  Loosen the upper pinch bolt and then loosen the cap.  I use a 18" long, 1/2" drive breaker bar.
