A few of the pheasants in snow feeding on bales, taken out the kitchen and front room windows.  Kind of dark this am, but you can see them.  I have thousands more in the feedlot and shelterbelts around the farm.

Better to be judged by 12, then carried by 6.

Thats one of my favorite memories of riding in SD. We got up early and took 183 out of Winner to Presho. It was a foggy morning and all the pheasant sitting on the round bales along the road. We must have seen a 100 of them. We have very, very, few pheasant around here, and what we do have has been farm raised and released.

I killed a pheasant one time.  We were headed to Wyoming to hunt antelope.  We were headed west somewhere out in the Oklahoma panhandle at about 70mph in my 1977 Chevy pickup.  It was just before dawn and the wind was blowing a misty rain out of the north at about 40mph.  I saw this pheasant in my headlights and he was in the left lane facing north.  He took about two steps and launched into the wind desperately trying to make some headway.  He got just about grill high when the plastic grill erupted into an explosion of feathers and plastic.  We stopped, got out and ripped out what was left of the grill and continued on to a successful antelope hunt in Wyoming.  Never did see anything of that pheasant but a few feathers left inside the grill cavity...JTL   Smiley

I hunted around Mott 7 years ago, have never seen so many birds, drove up into one farm yard and there must have been 300 roosters in the yard, hunted for many years around Plentywood MT.  same kind of country but not as many birds. how many acres do you work ?  T.P.

Nothing beats doing it the traditional way with a SXS and a good pointing dog.

Words to the song depend on what is in the bag at the end of the day.  The chestnut guy must have been a poor hunter.

No Pheasant here in Az. unless ya hunt on the pheasant farm for $$$$ We have the terrain for them no problem, the problem is too many ground preditors for the ground nesting birds.

Let's go pheasant hunting.  I have a Browning Citori that needs a little exercise.
