I had a 1:20 appt. but it's being done at a major central location...Lambeau Field where the Packers play. I figured even with an appt. it's going to be crowded and I hate waiting in lines, did enough of that in the service. So, after a little thinking on the subject I decided to take my fold up cane...something I don't have need of in daily life. It all took place on the second floor so when I walked in this little gal asked if I was there to get shot & directed me to the escalator...it's long and steep. Just before I got on, I unfolded my cane and she gave me a funny look so told her I hate lines. Suddenly she busted out laughing and asked me to stop by on the way out. I walked up to the line and leaned on the cane with both hands, then this little gal at a long desk pointed to me and motioned me over. Told her I had an appt. but she blew that off...telling me I looked too tired to wait in a long line, I was maybe 50' back. Went through the registration & she sends me off to the next station where the same thing happened. Last step was the shot itself and the J&J line was nonexistent so went right in. Got the shot, moved on to the 15 minutes observation area, then walked out. As I walked by the first line I saw the line hadn't moved that much and I folded the cane as I went by....which brought a howl of laughter by nearly everyone along with some applause. I just smiled, waved and went my merry way, stopped to see the gal at the entrance who got a good chuckle over it. It's now about 5 1/2 hrs. and no reaction, the injection site isn't sore and you have to look close to spot it. Guess I'll see what the day brings tomorrow. Seems the older one gets, the more conniving one has to be to level the playing field.

Thirty years ago, when I took my wife down to the LA federal building to get her US citizenship, I decided to wear my service dress uniform at the last minute. Saved me from about 4 hours of waiting in lines down there (with a quarter of Central America). The cane idea was a good one. I might try a white one and dark glasses sometime (but I don't have a dog).

that is funny John, good for you for improvising to NOT wait around 2 to 3 more hours just to get poked with a needle. Pays to be older and smarter than the norm. both of us are getting a shot, not sure what is there or which one, the 23rd of April. Will see how it goes but heard the johnson shot is not as effective but less side effects since a lot of people I know getting the 2nd shot of the other 2 reacted badly enough to keep them home next day or two from work.

J&J is less effective than Pfizer or Moderna. A higher percentage of Moderna recipients have had side effects than have Pfizer recipients. The side effects only last a day or two.

I had my shots at my local hospital and I was in and out in less than an hour both times.

Sounds a lot like my experience John. I came in the door a lady said wait over there with two other older gentlemen. A minute later we were brought to a table that verified my appointment and told they were giving the J & J shots and asked if that was ok. I said sure and was brought over to a nurse in a booth where she asked if I was allergic to what ever the shot was based on, said I didn't think so. She gave me the shot and I sat for 15 minutes and left. My arm was never really sore just slightly when I touched it for the first day.
