I have some chrome vents I want to install but can't figure out just how the old ones come out and don't want to break any plastic. Looks like they snap out when a couple tabs are depressed but so far no luck with that. Anybody ever remove them?

I was trying to keep from doing all that disassembly but might be the easiest way, those vents just snap in. I have pods on the Tourer with chrome vents installed, maybe I'll just swap that part they're mounted in rather than try to slip just the vents out. Whomever installed the pods on the I/S trike did a lousy job, the grommet surrounding the lamp isn't centered on the left side. Haven't tried installing the right side to see if I can adjust it to fit right. If not...it will have to stay the way it is.

I used butter knives to hold the tabs down, inserted between the tab and body. I removed the pod and removed the piece holding the vent on to work on it.

Cut a aluminum pop can and from the vent side, slide it in where the tabs are, top & bottom and you should be able to pull the vents out. You may need to push from the back side also.
