By the logic some people use to sell something. I found a bike I want to buy. I message the person I want to buy their bike, give them my phone number and ask them to call me to make arrangement for payment and a time to come pick the bike up. Instead of calling me I get a message back that I am number two in line. Ok, I understand, but the seller went on to explain that the one ahead of me wants to come and look at the bike on Saturday, and that they were going to call on Friday to confirm.

If the person who wants to look has any idea of value and has money then the bike will be sold I’m sure. But when you have someone who tells you they are willing to travel 600 miles to buy their item and will show up with cash it doesn’t make sense to me. The seller wants to be fair and I understand fairness, I’m the same way, but at this point he doesn’t even know if number one will show up. I guess it it’s meant to be, it will. I had plans in my mind to take the wife along and do some sight seeing while we were out about.

I'm not sure I understand that either.  In my mind the first person to show up with the money is the winner.  I've had too many people show up and hem and haw and haggle and tell me they'll come back then never show up again.

First in with the cash unless I told the potential buyer I would hold it for him/her.
I've done that recently but, I gave the first potential a buyer a deadline and advised him that if he wasn't here within 24 hours, all bets were off.   He agreed to that.

Interestingly, the first buyer was on his way to buy it and got a call from his wife stating that she had just taken their 12 year old daughter to the emergency room.   He was only 50 miles from here but called and told me to let the second buyer have it and turned around and went home.   He was good to his word and so was I.

If you get the call that you’re number 2 up you may have just been given a bargaining chip on pricing.

Hope you’re right. The seller has the bike priced right, maybe a steal, so I’m not holding out much hope for that call.

Don't give up yet. Potential buyer #1 may be a tire kicker. There are a lot of them out there.

Hey John Good luck I’ve drove over 700 miles each way and left bikes sitting because the bike was not as the seller described.  If you happen row get the call I would ask if the first guy showed up that might tell you something.
Ps if Rams keeps it up we can sell you his trike that’s over here

I did the 1000 mile round trip in February and came home empty handed. I tried to make a deal on another one in March but I was not number one either and lost out, but without the drive. Just for giggles I’m going to message the seller Friday night to see if his “looker” called to confirm the Saturday viewing.

Send pics of the trike, maybe we can work something out cooldude

The statement is true, although it’s not currently the plan.

The search continues. The bike that was being held for viewing on Saturday was sold and removed from marketplace Wednesday evening.

oh well there will be another eventually right?

I once sold my pop up camper nothing special pretty old but in very good shape for 1500 bucks, what I paid for it about 7 years prior.  The guy never cared to look it over much and seemed to be in a hurry to get going for some odd reason.   He went on his way and I was going to that same day mid-day go ATVing with my kid and never removed it from craigslist yet but was planning to later that  night or next day.

The guy who bought it saw later that night was trying to re-sell my camper for 2K making 500 profit.  He even had the nerve to email me that same night asking me why had I NOT removed my craigslist posting yet since pics were of an identical popup camper.   What a jerk!

Probably, but will I ever be number one?  Angry This bike was a 2010 Goldwing with 7000 miles and priced at $7500.00. I was shocked when I saw the price which is easily $2500 under most asking prices on a 2010 with more miles. I figure it will happen sooner or later or I’ll lose interest and start spending money putting my Chevelle back on the road.
