Honestly, having watched a lot of the trial. The prosecution did a great job presenting the facts, and not turning the court or crime into a Johnnie Cochran racially charged sh!t show, I don't recall hearing much on race in general from the defense or prosecution.
Derek Chauvin was found guilty by a jury of his peers. It's hard to provide an adequate defense when filmed performing the said action that caused George Floyd's demise.
Agreed. If it weren’t for the videos nobody would have heard a word about it. (Or they would only have heard one side)

If it not for the video on cell phone, Chauvin would still be employed to this day as a police officer probably and all of this would not have been so public at all. A long time employee working at UW-Madison wanted to leave work on his Harley Davidson parked outside during the rioting and the young folks protesting blocked his ability to cycle on out of there. He had a few choice words asking them to step aside so he could leave on his cycle with protestors egging him on and he got upset enough with them not moving he ran over one young lady protestor. ALL caught on camera cell phones, so he got fired from am sure his good paying job he liked. Blocking public streets from cars or cycles from moving IMO is illegal and all should have been arrested vs. doing NOTHING. Not so sure I would have done anything differently either. You see a cycle coming at you at low speeds say 5 mph or less and one would step aside vs. getting run over, agree?

If I ever get in a jam, I know who I'm putting on retainer.
Oh no you don't.
Well, free advice is less expensive than an attorney on retainer anywho, so there's that. Yep. AND, it's real hard to sue a guy for free advice given outside of any formal representation. (I never got sued. And never got one bar complaint either.) I did get a couple death threats on my answering machine once. But whoever it was (and I looked hard), they never killed me.

Yes they do but.... 20 years from now people are going to ask who George Floyd park is named after. If I answered it would go like this. 'It was named after some low life thug who put a gun to a pregnant woman's belly while robbing her and later died at the hands of a bad cop while high on drugs". Sound about right? Simple fact is. If these individuals would have just taken their punishment like men and were arrested for the crime or in the other case in MN gone for his warrent they would be alive today.

To paraphrase a line from No Country for Old Men, Mr. Floyd died of natural causes. Natural to the lifestyle he led. If he didn't die at the hands of Derek Chauvin, it's likely he would have died by someone else's hand. Or from an overdose. It's also highly likely that Mr Chauvin only expedited Floyd's death by a few minutes.

Considering the lethal dose of Fentanyl in Mr. Floyd's system a rational person could argue that Mr. Chauvin's actions actually extended Mr. Floyd's time on this planet...

The rest of the sentences will likely be concurrent.
Why would you think that? Because that’s normally what happens. According to my understanding of MN law, since it was a single act, he will be sentenced only on the charge that would/could result in the longest sentence.

For Chauvin, any time in prison will be a death sentence. I'm sure Vegas already has odds on how long it will be before he's Epsteined.

I would have titled this thread, “Convicted on all counts”. Guilty verdict was simply 12 people who didn’t want their neighborhoods to burn and have their names spread all over social media as racist and worse.

You polled the jurors and got their input ?

As a first offender, I think a good effort will be made to get him into a safer (than average) lockup. But he will likely be offered segregation wherever he goes. But that is harder time, alone and locked down.

IMO - the only lockup that might be safe for Chauvin is likely to be Club Fed. Putting him in General population would be a death sentenance.

Read the autopsy report the LEO didnt cause his death. He was a dead man with all thedrugs i. His system this was a feel good verdict(or more likely a scared verdict). Should the officer have knelt on him so long no. But look at the video he was not obstructing his breathing. The Autopsy said zero brusing on or under the siin on his Neck. The knee was actually more towards his shoulder. And as him saying I cant breath...... wonder why the drugs did that and if he is making noise as in Saying I CANT BREATHE contradicts the statement itself. If you ain’t breathing you ain’t talking. And BTW Maxine Waters should be removed from office and jailed for the rest of her natural life.

The Chauvin case stands for a few things;
But foremost to me is you must assume you are on some camera whenever you go into public. Roads, buildings, houses, dash cams, parking lots, dumpsters, stores and most of all Cphone cams.
Anything you do or say or wear or look may be a matter of record wherever you go. (just like anything you post on line)
Wherever you go, whatever you do, whatever you say or gesture.
Happy thoughts and salutations and greetings and positive actions are fine; but if you are having angry thoughts, you need to always assume you are being recorded, before you ever act.
Some of it is Big Brother and business, but most of it is fellow humans.
I suppose this is old news, but it bears reminding.
I was reading some of other forum, and a policeman was saying it's entirely possible to find a good spot to park your cruiser and watch Netflicks and Utube for your entire shift. I don't blame him at all.

Dennis, I applied for three departments in my lifetime. The first two, while I was in law school, and I was in the final running (top 7-10) for both, but no cigar. The last time after service, I was on a on a HS track with 1800 guys doing physical testing for 3 jobs (at 40). I suppose it was a blessing.
I'd still do it (except I'm too old) but only in a small town, not in any city or urban area.

From an alternate juror:
"I felt like either way you are going to disappoint one group or the other. I did not want to go through rioting and destruction again and was concerned about people coming to my house if they were not happy with the verdict."
Sounds like mob justice. The KKK used similar tactics.
