Did I miss something about student loan forgiveness? I thought nothing had come down the pike yet. But yesterday my brother got some kind of loan reimbursement checks. Of course, I got nothing, nor is that my expectation.

Haven't heard anything about it Connie. But then, I paid off my own student loan, a girlfriends/fiancee, my wife's and helped pay for much of my kid's college. They haven't sent me a check as of yet but, I still hold hope they will. Bump Rams

I knew guys who went in to the military because they couldn't afford college and then went to college on the GI bill. I know people who had bad lives for a while paying for college, but they did. I know people who worked two jobs until their loans were paid off. This random we're going to pay off some students is unfair to many. I have to children going off to college soon, why are my taxes going to pay for other peoples children's loans? I'm sure my kids won't be getting loan forgiveness. If they keep this up as a on going plan, schools will just raise their tuition.

There was no letter explaining; the stubs only said "Student Loan Reimbursement."

Working on a plan to do just that but, I've got to help pay off the $2 Trillion loans that was just passed recently first. Getting around to it just as soon as that's done. Oh, also there's all that extra stimulus money already given out in the form of additional unemployment give away. Have I left anything else out? I figure that I can get that done if I live to a ripe old age of 500 or so. So, hold yer breath, I'm gett'n round 2 it. Rams

How old is he? How long ago was he in college? Where did the checks come from? How many $ were they for?

I set up college accounts for our twins when they were born. We sacrificed a lot to fund those accounts over the next two decades -- imagine how much chrome I could have bought! We also had a little help from grandparents, and my son, who chose a more expensive engineering degree, helped with some intern income. But it was all worthwhile when they both graduated debt free 8 years ago.
The socialists currently in power want to use our tax dollars to reward adults who financed degrees that apparently don't generate enough income to pay for themselves. If a bank made loans like that they'd be out of business. If this passes anyone who paid for their own college education should be very angry.
It's now obvious why Obamacare included the provision that federalized student loans.

Seems like I heard or read something about President Biden was doing an Executive Order forgiving something like $50K of student loans for some folks. Don't remember enough about it to discuss and if he did, it's already a done deal so, not much I can do about it except vote for someone with a little more financial sense.

Some of you are expressing expectations that indicate you are somehow unaware of the intricacies of buying votes.

Rams Does being in school during the 60's count ? I'll apply. I don't think I deserve it, nor, do I think I deserve the covid check. but, we might as well all take it if they are willing to give it. Yep, my mind is being changed.

Yep, the crap is going to hit the fan some day. Its certainly going to hurt/hit our kids, grandkids, great grandkids.
But, no matter what they decide to give me is not going to influence my vote.

They didn't request any money or info from him. Checks cashed.

If he's been paying during COVID times, maybe a refund for interest paid since that's supposed to be suspended?
Just a total WAG...

Not there. It was a truck-driving school. I know he was unhappy with the school and their unfulfilled promises and misrepresentations, but he says he never filed a claim against them. He is not working in the field.
