Many years ago Rattlebars made a set up to replace the factory bolts that held the fender to the rails which allowed the bag mounts to be quickly removed without dropping the fender.  Does anybody have a set that can tell me what they are comprised of.

I got a set while they were still available.

Basically, they replace the bolts that go through the
top two bag (works with bag rails too) supports with
nice threaded rod.

Instead of unscrewing a bolt, you take off a nut
and the bags are still hanging by the stud. Then you
can lift the bags off the bike, and set them back on
when you are done.

I like them also but making your own isn't a big deal. Just use the existing bolts for reference, I've done it a number of times for others.

Thanks for the reply, do either of you have a photo of the configuration?

Here is a parts list, dimensions, and procedure my son and I developed. If anyone wants it in a single pdf instead of pasted in pics, PM me with your email and I will send it.

You are welcome Pathfinder.

I stayed with metric hardware because the only SAE I have is on my Kurakyn highway pegs. If you don't want to go with 8 and 10 mm, you could compromise with 3/8 hardware all around. It is obtainable from the hardware store. I just ordered the metric online.

8mm   = 0.315
3/8 in  = 0.375
10mm = 0.394

Not sure of your locations but my town of 20k has couple of hardware stores that carry metric bolts/nuts.

I live on the edge of the world in a quiet little town. A few steps and you fall off into the ocean.

I had trouble finding the threaded rod in metric with the right thread pitch to match the other hardware. I finally just ordered it from McMaster Carr, or Grainger, or someplace.

Well since I enjoy Klamath Falls, I guess I will have to take a ride from Oxnard, CA to get some metric rod....  ;-)
