Route starts about due west out of Maggie Valley then a right turn onto the BRP.

A left turn back on to the BRP towards the end.

Nope, but there were a lot of cars parked in the areas where hiking trails are nearby.

very nice.  My kid, his friends, and wife are heading back from TN thru KY/IN and the scenery is nothing short of spectacular as well they say.

They took the VAlk members advice and saw Cades Point and saw black bears, but then again,  a momma bear with her cub was also 10 ft. outside their front door as well outside Gatlinburg TN.  Something you do not see in WI everyday (or probably ever).    They did say Gatlinburg TN is the tourist mecca 4x's the size of what we have here in WI Dells WI.

One of my favorites is on 215 descending towards Canton. The view and ride along Lake Logan is top notch!

Looks like you had a great early ride today!

Paul,

You've certainly located yourself where short day rides in any direction are special treats yet easy to do! The one you just described is one I've enjoyed, too, and... OK... I admit I'm just a wee bit envious!!! Ride on, you lucky devil!!!

When wife got home today from Gatlinburg TN area,   she said she would NO way feel comfortable going thru the smoky mountains on our Valk.   The drive to Cades point and clingmans dome was very switchbacky and up/down a lot with lots of traffic.   I guess she does not trust me too much, but she also said the traffic on those roads were very, very busy more so than anything we have around me here.

she has some nice pics but pics she said does not do the elevation and mountain range justice have to see it all IN PERSON she said.    Pretty neat though to see a black bear just hanging out in the open field some 50 yards tops away near Cades Point area as well as a cub and momma bear 10 ft outside their cabin just south of Gatlinburg TN just hanging out awhile.

After a while riding the same roads over and over gets a bit old.

OK, ok, it doesn't.

The BRP is beautiful and I am very fortunate to have it close by. The highest point marker is only 30 miles from me.

The Maggie Valley entrance is only 5 miles.
