https://www.relive.cc/view/vZqNnDrww3qCold up on the BRP. Got lightly rained on and a few small snow flakes. Hooray for heated handlebar grips. 6 elk in the median where the BRP and Hwy 19 to Maggie Valley meet.

I like watching these... Sometimes the way the compass orientation changes it throws me off and I also look on a map to find out where one of the highlights is located. Fun stuff.

It is frustrating that they don't keep north, north. Scroll down and you will see a Google Earth map of the route.

Rode through Hot Springs on a trip out of Maggie Valley once.
It's an interesting place, there was a caravan of VW Bus campers in the campground the day that we were there.

It is frustrating that they don't keep north, north. Scroll down and you will see a Google Earth map of the route. I used to set my BFGPS to always point north. When I'm following the little man across the screen, generally I don't have a clue as to where I am in the real world. When there's ten Valkyries on my tail and I'm going south and left is right and right is left and there's a fork coming up and QUICK WHICH WAY... DRAT! Now I always have it set so that me and the little man are always headed to the top of the screen and the map rotates beneath us... -Mike

What a great ride thx for posting. Living in Maggie Valley now I'm guessing you have uncovered some good local roads too. I like Relive and use it too but you get out a lot more than me. Have you thought about getting a camera mounted. It'd be really nice to see what you see.

Creek Side tavern in Hot Springs has a great lunch selection. I was in Maggie Valley Saturday on a little jaunt via 209, I forgot Thunder in the Smokies was going on

How many miles... does it show that somewhere on that app? I see you bypassed the Hot Springs. We have an abundance of natural hot springs here, many of them undeveloped...whenever possible we like to stop for a dip.
I love the names of places in some of the the Southeastern States... Knobs, Hollers, etc. Is a "Knob" a hill or mountain?

A knob is usually bigger than a hill but not quite as big as a mountain. It can also be a particular feature of a mountain. I grew up looking at this knob everyday: Peaks Knob is a feature atop Draper's Mountain.

It's been awhile since I've ridden 209 and Hot Springs has become more touristed. Not many bikes on the roads. It's only 45 miles away.

It doesn't show the mileage as you ride. It does show the total. Top left. It is free. https://www.relive.cc/https://www.hotspringsnc.org/

These hot springs have been developed for 200 years or so. Planters from the coast used them before the Woah. I hear now that they are frequented by... people from... Asheville...
