‘

shftr was up in Pennsylvania. A huge mountain of a man. He and his wife known I think as Mama both rode. I don’t remember his real name or much about him other than we chatted in the chat room a lot back in the days of the old forum. He would sign on with just the apostrophe. I remember I would talk about making pizza and shftr would talk about shoe fly pie. So I sent him one of my pizzas and he sent me a shoe fly pie. Good times. I can’t remember exactly when shftr died but it wasn’t long after his home was destroyed my a tornado if anyone remembers when that was. If anyone remembers more please add.

His last name was Hurst

That was how he got the nickname

One of the first people I met in the VOAi back in 2002

Whenever I rode down 78 towards Virginia we would meet at a diner north of harrisburg

Once or twice wingmomma would ride down with him on her bike

He installed a lighter right next to the petcock and would fire up a blunt or cigarette while riding to help with his pain, but never complained about it

Tornado knocked his house down a few years before he died.

A kind mountain of a man as you said.

Used to host the Ephrata Ride.

Never went or met him but I knew many who did.

RIP.
