I've seen many of those, I've been a few of 'em...
And much like I dunno if I could ever go back to working in an office, not sure I could ever go back to shooting at a public range...

Too stupid for me too. Sorry. I've seen some unsafe/stupid stuff at ranges. I (we) either corrected it or kicked them out. Mostly it's pretty competent folks minding their own business. Even at the range in San Bernardino I used many times (late 80's). And I learned a lot in my early days from wise old guys (once you earned their trust).

If I saw any of that at the range I'd leave. Maybe that's why I don't go to the range anymore. The desert is just fine. -RP

I watched the whole thing just for the heck of it. Let me ask you. If a non gun person saw that video what would they think? The sniper bit was funny,it reminds me of some bench rest shooters I know in my gun club. But what I saw for the most part was a video that makes gun owners look like a bunch of goofs. There is absolutely NO place for goofing off at a gun range. Most of what I saw would get your membership to our gun club revoked.....

Ok, I watched a little bit of that video. It is obviously some kind of satire but I got no joy from it.
Maybe that is because I take everything about firearms very serious and because I have witnessed some really dangerous things at gun ranges. Also, I have viewed a lot of video, of really stupid gun range activity. At one new gun range I was volunteering my help, I pointed out several potential lethal practices and they changed most of them before anyone got hurt. Even so, they continued one unsafe practice because changing it was “a lot of extra effort”. ......... They haven’t seen the things I have seen ........ yet. I pray they never do!
With that said, I know that statistically gun ranges are very safe. However, I have witnessed enough to know that there is a lot of good luck in those low numbers. I wonder just how long the statistics will remain so favorable as all of the recent new gun owners begin to learn their guns........ If, in fact they do practice with those guns and not just toss them in a pocket and believe they are safe.
Getting back to the satire video, I have laughed at funnier things things that have actually happened. One video of a certain DEA agent showing off in front of a classroom full of grade school children when he sent a lead pellet from his 40 cal Glock thru his own foot comes to my mind. What a sad reality check that was! But I laughed because I thought it was poetic justice.......a blunt and harsh reminder to not be cocky or careless around dangerous things.
I have written more here than I perhaps should have. It’s a hot topic for me.

Years ago I swore off public ranges after seeing some of this idiocy. Have been a member of a private range for years now. Have seen no foolishness there. Folks are trained, experienced, and if they bring a guest, require them to observe the rules. A classroom training session is required for all new members, and membership is limited. The first one to arrive on a berm is designated the RO. And my range is huge, usually I am the only one on that particular berm. Anymore, the range gets less use due to the ammo situation. I haven't been there this year.

One amusing incident at a range for me was: Taking the Air Force basic handgun course out in the SoCA desert (.38 Spl Smith 4" Model 15s) with a bunch of newbies (I had taken it multiple times, just because I could, and it beat sitting in the office). Before you shot for score, you got a couple cylinders for adjusting sights and warmup. A little sparrow or wren flew in and landed on a center target (25 yards) and a bunch of guys couldn't resist shooting at it. It didn't fly off, and no one hit it (like 10 guys blazing away). I was laughing my ass off, but the range officer wasn't. Brave little peckerwood was safe out there. The Beretta 92s were out by then, but only USAF cops got them. Everyone else, and pilots, still carried the Smith & Wesson K-38 Combat Masterpiece, Revolver Model 15 .

Video had to get in a snarky Assault rifle comment.
"Satire" (about as funny as Borat) as a political tool.
