Dirty trick.  But a funny one.  cooldude

When my wife gave the cats a bath, it was like a small warzone.  They thought they were getting murdered.

I had to make her keep the bathroom door closed because they kept escaping.

I am not happy.  Do I look happy?

Most of the cats I had would finally realize that the bath WAS going to happen and settled down. Took some doing and some funny moments along with a couple of challenging ones but all in all most took it well.

I wondered why this guy did this and remembered the times in the middle of the night the cat would run across my bed waking me up.

He was fast and it startled me with an instant wake up. But he did it so much and was consistent with his time that one night I was out to stop this. So I woke up and waited, sure enough he started to run over my legs and I dont think he knew what hit him. All I can say was there was cat in the air across the room and he never did it again.  Wink

Who ever said you cannot teach cats.

What really makes the video funny is he was in mid air when he pulled the cover off. I can imagine in the cats life it was one of those OH SH@@ moments. Strange how I can relate to that.  Grin

I assume by the term “asshole” you are describing an individual that is in some way behaving in a socially unacceptable way. By using that loose definition I think most cats are assholes so no harm done. The video was funny. And I don’t care who disagrees with me.

It's not unusual for assholes not to recognize themselves within the group.  We generally use the term to describe a person who extremely self centered as is often displayed by exacting harm or mistreatment of others to the amusement or benefit of the asshole.

The video isn't funny.  I do care who disagrees with me because it identifies what they are.  Please take CMA out of your username.  It misrepresents.

Also reminds me of how it's suggested you clear a cat's innards from a hairball or other obstructions. Warm some castor oil, put in a syringe and insert/inject...make sure the back door is open. My daughter Toni's cat presented her with the complete hind leg & some guts of a rabbit last week. The door was open and in she came, dropping her present in the middle of the kitchen and sat down looking for praise I assume. It was not forthcoming!  Grin

If you're referring to my behavior, I don't censor anyone that points out anything contrary and I don't declare myself faultless but I have no problem believing that I am right.  If I thought I were wrong I would obviously change my mind.   Smiley

Typical and expected. Just like a politician. You really should run for higher office with your mastery of semantics you are sure to never be technically wrong. And I concede I will probably never be right. So I accept that fate. I’ll be wrong and you can be right any time you like.

I don’t hate it when I agree with Willow. (But it does make me uncomfortable on occasion)

It wasn’t funny. Maybe a 1 on a scale of ten at best. They didn’t do any physical harm to the cat (or so it appears) But being mean to a cat or most any animal really isn’t (or shouldn’t be) funny. I had a couple 2nd cousins when I was about 6 or 7 we visited them. They might still be alive, I have no idea. They lived way out in the country in Brownsville, Texas. Their idea of fun was to put kittens in a big tub of water and make them swim. That kind of stuff just ain’t cool.

I hear childhood trauma is the root of all sorts of problems.

Lets think about this a moment.

They did not hold the cat.

They did not appear to put the cat on the roof.

They did not tell the cat to jump.

They did not put him in the water.

The cat had many choices how to get down.

They were only prepared when it happened.

He was not hurt.

Like the cat that ran across my bed at 3 am consistently and finally was able to stop it.

Stop reliving your childhood. Get over it, and stop using it as an occasion to brown nose.

Now this one is a bit hard and not funny but amazing, I am glad the cat appears to get away with seemingly little injury.

Video: Cat jumps from burning building and survives

The video shows a black cat vaulting from a fifth-floor window and actually clearing a wall in front of the building. The cat bounces on the grass and then darts away, the video shows.

these things being a buffet for Copperhead snakes.

Well there's a happy thought.

What they are a buffet for at my house is ants.  Ants I have been fighting to keep out of my house for 30 years.

Try this I had some ants and they were gone shortly after eating this.

https://www.terro.com/terro-liquid-ant-baits-2-pack

You bet Robert, I've been using that a couple years, with great results.  cooldude

It's advertised as an indoor product.  Well, it works outdoors very well, when you track the ant's trails, and put out the bait at optimal locations, weight it down and cover it (against weather) with a clay pot base tipped up on a side.  They had been in my upstairs bathroom for years (tiny sugar ants, not many but regular visitors).  It stopped them cold (coming over the sidewalk and up under the house siding), and also in my kitchen hose bib hole.  I've also used big bags of outdoor insect killer, but the little Terro baits, properly located, do more than 20 lbs of that stuff.

--------------------

PS: I trained a cat not to eat the houseplants using a long range squirt bottle of water.  He hated it, but it didn't hurt him at all (and wasn't torture).  He was real determined to eat them anyway, but after about 6 months of squirts, he finally quit.  I got spanked, he only got squirted with water.

On the other hand, it is well documented that many serial killers tormented and killed small animals growing up.

We really don't know the backstory on the cat jumping into the water.  If it was the owner, that's one thing.  But if it was a neighbor's cat that had been sh!tting all over my property, and hunting, killing and tormenting my endangered flying squirrels at night for a long time (and I asked them to keep him under control with no luck), that would be another thing.   (at my house, he'd be lucky if it was only water, and he got to go home)

Most people have never seen any of these in their lives.  I had a couple families coming in at night for years, oak to oak from the woods behind me.  You'd have to wait until late, and their jumping, playing and flying around was a joy to watch.  (and none of the damage the local grey squirrel population does)

There is an outdoor product if you have them around your house you can spread some of a product called Arena
https://nufarm.com/usturf/product/arena-0-25-g/

Its granular and kills on contact and stays awhile, it also may help with your other problem.

Terro also makes an outdoor product.

I am amazed here on the board that with big tough men we have trouble distinguishing between cruelty and training or even getting whats coming to them. Training any animal to not do behavior that would destroy property, put anyone in danger or just make them a nuisance is so much better than putting them to sleep.

Distinguishing between the two seems nearly impossible here, of course like Trump got for 4 years maybe there is other motives to the pursuit.  coolsmiley

I wonder if we have lost the ability to communicate in this time of political correctness.

Maybe its we lost the ability to give the other person the benefit of the doubt.

...when this thread first started I was about to post some GIF's of squirrel catapults that I find mildly amusing, having spent many thousands of dollars repairing the damage the furry little SOB's have done to my roof, but I was too busy getting ready to go to faire to stomp around in the mud all day and didn't, figured I'd post 'em later....

Guess I'm glad I didn't find the time to do so afterall...

In lieu of that, have a pic of my elder spawn being a "kid" one last time at her favorite place on Earth dancing in the rain and mud to a wonderful bagpipe band today:

And her and the "king" from our local faire (Who is an off duty Marine himself, yet approves of Kali's choice to join the Army, even if he did question it somewhat) stomping in mud puddles and having a grand time...

*No cats nor squirrels were harmed in the making of those pictures, although some very expensive renaissance era garb got very VERY muddy. (Which explains the Marine with an umbrella, the very VERY expensive garb he's wearing belongs to his employer, not him, so......)

Distinguishing between the two seems nearly impossible here, of course like Trump got for 4 years maybe there is other motives to the pursuit.  coolsmiley
It’s strange you would equate Trump’s term in office with people who see humor in dunking cats.  coolsmiley

Who dont see the humor.

Let me explain, people had trouble with Trump and kept attacking him although he fulfilled promises, did a good job, got people money and warned what Biden admin would look like.

It was mainly people who could not see past their nose and voted for Biden and supported him as an easy way to generalize them.

Not intended to reference anyone here, just a point.

BTW we did have a squirrel launch post before and it did not cause this much of a stir. So maybe its me, hence the reference.

...
I am amazed here on the board that with big tough men we have trouble distinguishing between cruelty and training or even getting whats coming to them. Training any animal to not do behavior that would destroy property, put anyone in danger or just make them a nuisance is so much better than putting them to sleep.
...

Apparently you're missing the point.  We don't know the background or context of what happened in the video, although bothering to post it for the world to see speaks poorly for someone.  The issue is what it says about someone who finds it humorous.  I would feel pretty well the same at someone who laughs at a child being spanked.  I spanked my children (most of them) but I wouldn't post a video of their spankings nor would I laugh at such a video.
