If it's any consolation, not this weekend for me either, I'm oncall for work, can't be more than 15 minutes from my work computer 'till 7AM Monday...

...and I bet your view's a lot nicer than mine when you're stuck at home all weekend...

Both the wife and me have done our time  like that - I'm glad I don't mess with that anymore....

I used to have to carry a beeper for a week, every 6 weeks or so (USAF).

The beeps were mostly no big deal, but the doing without beer for that week sucked (well I could have a beer or two, but with the possibility of getting involved in some criminal instigation with warrants, wiretaps or arrests, or some aircraft accident investigation made staying sober a good idea).

Back in my younger days, had to have a radio with me on most weekends (no cell phones then) as would have a potential for wild fires.  Had to be within 15 minutes of home.  Really made it hard to go anywhere.   Glad I go "old" enough that didn't have to fight fires any more.   Lot more enjoyable.
