Beautiful east Tennessee ( GOD'S Country )

« on: March 07, 2009, 06:17:02 PM »

Took off early this morning headin' to Brasstown  Bald the highest point in Georgia. Temps was on the cool if not cold side when I rode out. Rode out by the lake into Tellico Plains then on out the outstanding twisties of Hwy.68 through Coker Creek, Tennessee. By the time I crossed into North Carolina it was t-shirt weather.I stopped at Field Of The Woods to remove a couple layers of clothes.

I crossed out of Tennessee into North Carolina then Georgia.

I was runnin' early and drove by " BOOGER HOLLOW "  after about a mile I said " I'm ridin' Booger Hollow "  Smiley  so I turned around and did Booger Hollow . It turned out to be a pretty cool road with nice curves and sweepers.

Made it to Brasstown Bald about 45 minute's early.

Here's a shot of the summit at Brasstown Bald back when I had my Goldwing my wife and I walked to the top it was in the 90's that day  Sad  I've been back several times since but that walk to the summit is the only time I've went to the top its kind of a " Been There , Done That " now .

After hangin' around awhile some of the VRCC South Carolina crew showed up.

Then the Georgia crew mostly members of The North Georgia Motorcycle Club with some VRCC throwed in  Smiley  I never counted but I'll guess we had 25 plus bikes when we rode off the mountain to Rib Country for lunch.

After lunch it was time to head out toward home I took the long way through Murphy and Andrews , NC so I could go play on The Dragon. I rarely ride alone but today was awesome the weather was perfect and the 386 miles I put on BADMOJO was outstanding.
Deals Gap Store is open for business now with gas , food and the always popular t-shirts.

Britman called and told me you had a flat while I was still on the way up this morning. Saw lots of bikes today 1  crash as we came off Brasstown Bald mountain then another about 5 miles from Brasstown Bald. They was dealing with a downed bike on The Hellbender 28 when I came through ( all 3 sport bikes  ) . When I came off The Dragon and was down by the lake a ambulance passed me headin' toward Robbinsville  Sad  While I'm thinking about Robbinsville the mountain between Robbinsville and Deals Gap was on fire today they had cops blocking US 129 and detouring around Thunderbird Mountain. The whole town of Robbinsville was covered in smoke. We'll hook up again Duffy I really enjoyed my near 400 mile lunch ride today thanks for the invite  cooldude
