2014 Valkyrie 1800

Seminole, Florida

« on: May 23, 2021, 05:43:32 PM »

Beautiful day riding, left at 7:00am met a girl at a water break riding same Valk as me. heading into Aripeka a large snake crossed the road, I parked and followed into the brush, pretty thick and straight into the water.

Time to get out of there, getting thicker.

Down the road to the Aripeka post office

Continued up the coastline to Pine Island, crystal clear day with rare low humidity mad for a perfect riding day.

Then head inland to meet up with some friends for lunch...Fl. beef of course.

And a Florida hill for those that believe it's flat. This road is a half a bubble, water will run down it. Grin

Nice post....this is  a really great shot cooldude  Love the post office too...cute.

And....I must have missed that "hill" whenever I've been in FL. I guess if I tilt my tablet just right I can kinda see a bit of an incline   2funny

Doug, I can't remember when I went through that area but it's been many years. Thanks for the memories, looks like a beautiful day for a ride. When did you get the 1800, guess I missed that post.  Wink I haven't made up my mind yet as to whether I'll make it down to Fla. on the trike, will depend on a few things like weather, health(which seems good actually), condition of the trike, etc. Would love to meet up with some of you guys. If I do make it down, I'll be looking for a Mom & Pop type motel to crash in for a few days.  cooldude

We have a few hills and curves here in Florida.   When they finish the I-4 construction, we'll have a few more!

Seriously, we do have some hills. Here in central Florida is the peninsula high point Sugarloaf Mountain rising a majestic 312'.  It's located near Clermont. The highest natural point is somewhere in the panhandle in L.A. reaches 345'.  Interestingly, there is there is a man made pile of dirt higher than the high point reaching 371' at a mine near Bartow.

Thanks for the comments guys cooldude

Mike, there's a few pockets of nice left in Florida if you know where to look. What I call nice and what the Mickey Mousers or beach goers call nice are very different. Wink

John, been following your trike build, congratulations she's a beauty. I miss the old group as well, many have retired riding. I lost touch with Eddie & Kim, Bert, Flask when I lost my phone and old contacts, always enjoyed those folks, always a great time. I see Thunderbolt here occasionally, certainly one of the good ones, another good one Pappy and haven't seen him in years. Maybe time for a reunion. I have seen Larue and Jack once or twice since you left. Most of my posts have been in the 1800 board, probably why you missed it.
Florida old bunch has pretty much dissolved. Most do not use this forum anymore, so I cannot reach them. I've been riding with a couple of Retired LEO's and a motor officer. Good riders.

Looking good Doug.  I noticed no forward highway pegs, funny as I very rarely use the ones on my 16 wing. I feel the plastic makes it way to wide further back, unlike pegs on the 1500 Valk.  Might even take them off.

Agreed Jerry, I haven't missed them or wanted them yet. I prefer my feet ready by the controls if needed. Don't care for how they look on this bike either although the valve cover mounted type look slick there have been issues reported with putting too much pressure on the valve cover mounting screws. Just bought another seat. Corbin this time. The seat pictured is custom made with memory foam and taller. I will try them both, getting everything right slowly.

Tell me if you want to get rid of the current seat.

I'm 5 11 and would like a little more leg room.

Just come up to the Speedway (Dumpster) on any Sat/Sun and there will be people riding somewhere. Check the FB page as more rides are posted there on the Valkyrie Riders of Florida page.
