A couple of months ago I sold my Valkyrie. Yeah, I can't ride any more.
Any way I sold it to Cedar Creek Motorsports along with my XS 1200.  I didn't get much for it after they picked it apart.
$500 because of all off the work they'd have to do.   They didn't do any of the work, they bumped up the price and somehow shaved 100,000 miles off of it.
I accepted the price thinking I got my moneys worth out of it.  Then a friend told about their ad............
Deception seems endemic but I had to pass this along.

Hey Steve sorry to hear your not riding anymore
I see it’s sold but I would still give them a call. I hope they made a simple mistake.
I shopped there many time they have a beautiful new store being built right now and the old store isn’t old.
Their prices on new bikes are usually on the lower side. I’ve found some great deals on helmets and accessories.
I never bought tires from them but are cheaper then anyone else but they are an hour away from me.

If you have proof of the mileage report it to the Standards and Trading Office (I made that up. Is there that kind of entity?)

did you tell them upon trade it in had an extra 100K on it?  Maybe the info. never got to the correct sales mgr. who posted the ad at 100K less?    Gee, for only 500 bucks trade in,  one would think you could have sold it for say 600 to anyone of us Valk riders near or far away??   Roll Eyes

after looking at a few of their older 80s cycles they have needing clutch/brake fluid flushing,  one would think they could easily do that prior to a sale?  Maybe their mechanic left them?

Really does not surprise me though other Honda dealership near me drove 2 used Honda cycle's and both needed immediate attention when it came to brakes, etc.   I told the sales guy both times and he said, oh well,  cycles are on consignment and anything at all needing done to them the new owner will have to pay to have it done then.   Gee, you think being able to STOP would be important when going out for test drives?

Another WI used cycle dealership I wanted to test drive a used Goldwing a few years ago was on their ad as ready to go.  I called, and it was NOT ready for a test ride they said had to be run thru their safety inspection shop first they routinely get them thru an auction.  At least that sales guy was upfront with me not wasting 2 hours driving time 1st to get there and not being able to test drive it.  That same dealer in WI about 5 years ago looking for a good used 1st cycle for my kid test drove a kawasaki vulcan 500.  It made some weird noises that I could replicate at LOW speeds in parking lot like something was rubbing.  I passed on it but 'supposedly' they were going to run it into their shop to find out what the noise was.  1800 was a bit steep was thinking 1500 and doubt they would go that low anyways.

well, they aren't called "Stealers" for no reason. I do think they're all the same.

I did business with them since I bought the bike from them.  Helmets, windshields a couple of tires.  I did all of the service myself so maybe they didn't like that.   I tried to contact them but they still are on covid hours.
I bought the SX from them too.  It was a hard decision to sell the bike but I made the decision that I put off for years.
For $500 I could have sold it to a friend of mine or certainly a VRCC member.
I accepted the deal but a friend told me of the ad.   The $500 was because of what it would cost to fix it.  Then they didn't fix it.
Lessons learned, time to close the chapter.  I had to stop a lot of my hobbies and this is the one I saved for last.

one would think even with say 2K in repairs,  a 160K mile Valkryie could still sell for 2500 bucks right?  Break even in my book 500+2K = 2500 ?

I see so many used late 70's, early to mid 80's cycles for sale recently and not a big Valk but mid sized 700cc range cycles and even those 'most stating need carb work' or 'currently not running but ran last year', for at least 1K to near 1500 bucks.  And then I see supposedly MINT condition cycles from that era asking 3 to near 5K for,  I wonder what planet they are from?  One cycle in my former hometown this guy is asking 5.5K for, maybe I should see if it is worth it?  It must be the ultimate Limited Version since I wonder how much New in 1976 this goldwing cost?

https://madison.craigslist.org/mcy/d/albany-1976-honda-goldwing-ltd/7315925992.html

sorry for your loss though for 500 bucks to me seems pretty much not worth even trading it in and selling outright to pretty much anyone willing to go 600 to 1K easily. I think I can get 800 bucks even for my dad's old 1986 chevy caprice classic needing brake work done.  I know it runs and runs well 165K miles barely little rust just needing new battery/brakes for now.  My kid keeps bugging me to get the brakes fixed so he can drive it around since his buddy had an old ford crown vic boat machine as well that engine recently died doing stupid stuff in it like donuts in the wintertime RWD and all.....
heck, I think a junk yard scrap metal alone that big old caprice classic could fetch 200 bucks in scrap weight alone?
