Now, as a newbie, I'm sure I'll get countless guffaws, asking such a simple question, but here goes: I purchased a studded Mustang tank bib (along with MUCHO chrome accessories) for my "new" Interstate. It obviously sets under the gas filler chrome panel, but for the life of me, I don't see how this is loosened to lift it up and away from the tank. I only see the two phillips head bolts holding the hinged gas cap in place. Does the tank need to be removed to gat at connectors underneath?
I'm sure the answer is obvious and I'm just missing it.
Also, while here displaying ignorance....a follow up: I purchased the Cobra six/six pipes for my red and black beauty. Does Honda sell an appropriate jet kit, or, should I contact Cobra for a specifically designed set? Any other tips or items I'll be needing for install?
Thanks for all the advice, in advance. This rig is making this insanely cold Winter a bit more bearable, as I work with her and dream of two wheeled tours awaiting me in the near future. Happy 2010 to all. Mike in N.Y.
When you remove the stock pipes be sure and remove the old exhaust gaskets. It will look like there are not in there but they are. Install some new exhaust gaskets and be careful when tightening the nuts up. It only torques to 7 ft lbs and they will ring off real easy. Also after installing the Cobra pipes you will need to go back and check the torque on the a couple times after riding it for a week or so. Like Willow said if you leave the baffles in no need to re-jet. You will loose a little power and re-jetting will put you back pretty close to stock hp, but you will loose gas mileage. These has some good power so a little lost in hp is no big deal.
