Hey, folks.  I'm thinking about purchasing an ultrasonic cleaner to do my carbs.  I don't mind doing one carburetor at a time, so I don't need a big one, but it has to be large enough to cover the dismantled carburetor completely.  Does anyone recommend a brand, what size, and if you have one, are you happy with the way it performs?  Also, I have seen that some people are using Krud Cutter or Simple Green as the cleaning solvents in them,  Any thoughts on that?  Thanks all, in advance.

I got the cheap one at harbor freight a few weeks ago to
clean up my blown clutch slave cylinder.

I think a whole Valkyrie carburetor would fit, it was easy
to get the slave cylinder under the solution.

I used "ultrasonic cleaner powder" added to water.

I aim to try a citrus-based cleaner next time, they're
supposed to be good...

I have a big Kendall. So far it has been a great one.
Before this I had several of the Harbor Freight ones. They will work but not last.
Mine is large enough to put a whole bank of carbs in it but they make smaller ones.
Things to look for when choosing is the power and number of the transducers and the ability to heat the water pretty quickly.
As far as the detergent goes remember the main reason it is there at all is to break the surface tension of the water and allow the ultrasonic process to be more effective. It is not there as a primary cleaner.
I currently use the detergent in about a 10:1 ratio water to detergent ratio. Your parts should be as clean as you can get them prior to the use of the ultrasonic.

Thanks for the input, folks.  This is the kind of information I was looking for.
